So far so good
We tried another similar product, but it was way too loud. This product was just right.

Good, but could use some better features
Firstly, it does what it supposed to do. I have it set up so that I know when my disabled wife gets out of bed in the middle of the night. A Chime goes off to alert me. Here’s where the better features could help: the chime continues to sound so you have to turn it off manually. It would be better if you could set it for a certain number of chimes to stop. It’s also very loud, even on the lowest setting; I think a quieter option would be beneficial such as a buzz setting. Oh! , batteries are not included , you need 3 C batteries and 3 AA’s. It would be 5 stars if it had those additional features. The most important thing is that it alerts me so she doesn’t fall in the middle of the night

If you care for a fall-risk person or someone who has dementia...GET THIS!!
This is my new best friend. I take care of my 94 yr old Dad and he has dementia. He likes to sneak out of bed especially at night. He's already suffered from a broken hip and a bad scrape and bruises; separate episodes. I was going nuts until I found this gem. The key is to have it strategically placed bc it is very sensitive to motion. I have it under his bed in the corner at an angle. He's so nosey, he is aware of it though. However this works as the best placement, otherwise, it picks up on him turning over, blankets sliding, etc. So with it under his bed, just before his foot hits the floor, it is detected. I gave 5 stars, and I'm hoping the battery life is good. I don't have it on all day but definitely yes for all night...I just got this a few days ago. It's a little pricey but it works so it's worth it. The monitor works several rooms away which is good for me during the day or if I'm outside in the yard bc he is bedbound. Gives me peace of mind during the day so I can go about other tasks or take breaks. My only thing is the chime. I wish it had different options for sound. I was in a deep sleep around 5:00 am this morning and I have no idea how long it was going off. I actually wondered in my dream what was that noise. It's not blaring though. Tonight I will turn the volume up to medium. I had it on low so maybe it was too soft while I'm asleep. But the fact that I was even asleep and in such a deep sleep is because this thing works!! During the day if on low, I can hear it immediately, even if I'm in another room. The (motion sensor) is smaller than I expected and it seems like it'll break if I'm not careful. I hope I don't step on it. Also, if chime does happen to go off, remember to reset both the sensor and the monitor afterwards.

Alarm Box is 4 stars, Motion Detector is 1 star
The 433-EC alarm box itself is pretty good, as you can use it with up to 6 sensors. I purchased a chair pad and a bed pad which both work with this unit. Contrary to other reviews I've seen, it can monitor all the sensors at the same time when programmed properly. (instructions are clearly given with the pads.)The motion sensor, however, is disappointing. One problem is that when the motion detector triggers the alarm, it continues sounding until you physically slide the power switch to OFF for several seconds and then back on. I've already seen one caregiver slide it off to silence the alarm and forget to slide it back on. It would be nice if the 433-EC had a built-in reset button. Smart Caregiver does sell a Remote Reset Button separately (#433-RB is about $40 on Amazon) that you can press instead of sliding the power switch, but why not just include a reset button on the unit itself? Alternatively, it would be nice if it just reset automatically after 30 seconds or so.Another problem is that the motion detector has too wide an angle for detecting a person just getting out of bed. I tried placing it many different places beside the bed to detect when a leg sticks out over the side of the bed. When the sensor is adjusted to detect that, it also picked up movement from pretty much anywhere in the room. If I aimed it really low to avoid getting triggered by movement in other places in the room, it didn't always sound the alarm when a leg went over the side of the bed.Between the frequent false alarms and the inconvenience of resetting it, I'm not even using the motion unit.Although not a part of this package, the bed and chair pads I bought separately are a much happier story. I added both pads to this 433-EC alarm unit. The alarm unit is armed when weight or pressure is put on either pad. The alarm sounds when the weight is removed. The alarm stops sounding a couple of seconds after pressure is back on the pad. In other words, if the person sits back down, the alarm stops sounding - no resetting of the unit is needed. Yayyy! However, if the person is not going to sit back down, such as transferring to a wheelchair, you do need to reset the alarm at that point. For safety's sake, I ordered the remote reset button to lessen the possibility of the power switch not getting properly turned back on. I'm not happy about having to spend the extra $40, but safety is my main concern! There's nothing to warn you of the batteries running low on either the Alarm box or the motion sensor. The decal on the units warn you to check functionality before every use. If you leave the unit on 24/7, which I plan to do, that isn't very helpful! So I've ordered the AC power adapter for the alarm box. Interestingly, the motion detector also has a jack for an AC adapter, which isn't in the product description. The bed and chair pads have sealed battery packs which are supposed to be left turned on and should last a year. They're not rechargeable or replaceable. So I guess when they die, you just throw them away! That seems kind of silly... There is a one-year warranty, so I do plan to watch them carefully about 50 weeks from now.I called Smart Caregiver Customer Service before purchasing this unit. They were helpful, but I now realize I didn't ask the right questions.Pros:433-EC Alarm box:- Has three volume levels- Can be programmed to monitor up to 6 sensors (I purchased pressure pads separately for $75 each)- Can use an AC adapter (purchased separately for $15)- Can use a remote reset button (purchased separately for $40)The Customer Service person I spoke with was knowledgeable and helpful, even though I wish I had asked better questions.Cons:433-EC Alarm box- No built-in reset button - You must slide Power Switch off, wait a few seconds and slide back on to reset- Signal from motion detector continues sounding until unit is reset.- No low battery warningMotion Detector- Too wide an angle for a bedside alarm- Frequent false alarms- No low battery warningSummary - Buy the bundle that comes with the chair pad, bed pad and the 433-EC alarm box, and forget the Motion Detector. This is probably a fine alarm for detecting ANY movement in a room, but it didn't work for my need.

Outstanding product!!
I usually write reviews for items that I have issues with. However, this product deserves recognition.I’m caring for my 92-year-old mom. My dad passed in November and my mom’s health has since declined due to heartbreak. She is living with me. Since she is weaker, she has fallen 4 times within a few days. She needs constant supervision and help will all activities, including going to the bathroom. She will get up at night and try to make it on her own. I found her one morning on the floor next to her bed. She had fallen and had been there for quite a while. Our room is several hundred feet from her room so we cannot hear her if she calls for me. I was struggling to find a solution. After researching for alarms for the elderly, I found the Smart Caregiver. OMG!! This product has changed our lives! I put the sensor on her nightstand and the alarm on my nightstand. It is super easy to set up. It took exactly 90 seconds. It has 3 volumes. I put it on the lowest and we hear the chime easily. When I goes off, I get out of bed and find my mom sitting up on the edge of the bed. She looks at me and asks, “how did you know”? If you are looking for something that alerts you to when someone is getting out of bed, this is your solution. I cannot stress how this has made a difference in all our lives. She has not fallen again, and I am resting easy!!
