I highly recommend this book
Loved this book. I really enjoy reading books of the Romans, but to read about Britannica was a great insight to the tribes living here. Caratacus was a great king and really out thought the romans, a force which was second to none, a pure killing machine. I won't give anything away, so you'll have to read it!

Roman II: The Rise of Caratacus
This is the second book that I have read by Kevin Ashman and it carries on from volume one very well. Recently I have taken a chance on reading quite a few books by self published authors and have found that there are some very good ones out there, Simon Turney, Gordon Doherty, Ron Peake are three of them, Kevin Ashman is now number four.I have read a lot of historical novels especially about the Roman era and specifically about Roman Britain, in fact I am currently reading a few by other 'established authors' and found myself preferring to read this book, which although I know it's only my opinion is testament to the writing style and story telling ability of Mr Ashman.Mr Ashman obviously did his homework and studied this period which I have a particular interest in. I've already got book three and so will be tucking into that as soon as possible. Hopefully Kevin will be doing some more stories covering this era.John SalterAuthor of Blood of Rome: Caratacus

Roman 2
What a good book I thoroughly enjoyed it, the author describes the ways of the legion most explicitely with a terrific understanding of the Roman way of life whilst on in the battle mode and when at rest. I have read the first book and could not wait to read the second one, may I say I was not disappointed at all and cant wait for the next instalment in the series. Highly recommended to anyone interested in Roman warfare. D Bowen.

Another great read
Again like all Mr Ashman's other books a very good story, well told. I mean that's the point of a fictional book isn't it? Yes it's fictional history based around fact, and as has been noted in another review that it may not be a complete factual record due to rabbits! But as a story well told its an excellent read, something that gripped me as a reader and I really cannot wait for book three to see how the characters lives pan out. If you enjoyed book one you will surely enjoy book two.

Great details, mechanical and phsychological
For lovers of ancient history this novel gives some meat to the dry bones of historical reference. The people, their lives, thier dreams and reality, the centurion of the Roman army, the precision, the training, so much of which can be seen in the underlying principles of modern armies of today. The principle of 'information is stronger than the sword' is the basis of modern day intelligence gathering. Great details, mechanical and phsychological, social and class interaction. Full marks - great book..

Review
Working Genealogy for many years introduced me to a cousin in Europe. Resulting conversations showed me to be woefully ignorant of the Geography of Europe to the point I was embarrassed.Receiving a Kindle for xmas was perfectly timed. To date, (June) I've read around forty of the 'Historical Fiction" books which has definitely increased my knowledge of western Europe, and the surprising number of 'tribes' that inhabited Italy, France, England, Ireland and other areas. The stories, I prefer the Series type, by various authors have held my interest, a couple I thought were better written than others. All about the same theme, but did keep my interest and I consider them light reading..

Yes, more please
I cannot wait what happens next to the two main Characters with Boddicca!!!!Wow I just love this time period- yet I am comfortable in my dinly midwest home and not in the cold rain in Britanica.I can see the characters and feel the landscape. When Britian actually had the old forests.Thank you for taking me where I want to go.

FORCED TO WRITE A REVIEW
AS I HAVE STATED BEFORE, I DO NOT APPRECIATE THE AMAZON PROCEDURE WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO SIMPLY READ, AND RATE, A BOOK WITHOUT SPEWING MY THOUGHTS ABOUT WHY IT WAS, OR WASN'T, A GOOD READ. ISN'T THE RATING ENOUGH?

Rome subdued the Britons
Shaman again drew me into the Roman invasion of Briton with realistic fleshed out characters and sound historical military campaigns. I felt I was in both the Caratacus army as well as the Roman legion. I can't wait to start the next chapter.
