Best sticks I've used
I've played with standard Vic Firth 5As, SD9s and Vic Firth 8Ds (which are great but seem to vary in density). These were recommended by a drummer friend who'd been using them for months. He was right. I'm used to a lighter stick, but it was a problem playing with volume and I wasn't getting the most out of my cymbals. The difference with these Shira Kashi 5A Oak sticks was immediate. They've got weight, but are superbly balanced. The density of the wood creates such a precise bounce - my playing is markedly tighter and faster. I've got ten pairs so far and will be stocking up from time to time in case they stop making 'em!

Been using these for a while now
These sticks seem to just last forever! I've had the same pair for about 5 months now and as a rock drummer, I don't go light. most sticks last me 2 days to 3 weeks. Light and durable (but slightly unavoidably heavy due to the density.) Sounds wonderful tonally. My only complaint would be that the packaging is excessively large and is a waste of resources. Would recommend to rock drummers!

Good sticks, first impression.
Only had one rehearsal since buying these and so far so good. Never had drum sticks made of this material before so I’ll update in due course.

Long lasting, feel good in my hands. This is now my go-to stick.
These are my new favourite sticks. They have a nice weight to them that is very nicely balanced and the density of the wood means that nasty vibrations are not transmitted back in to your hands as happens with some cheaper, lightweight, sticks. They last fairly well compared to other sticks that I have used. The wood tends to compress instead of chip so you end up with dents rather than splintering and peeling sticks, which I vastly prefer. Apart from making less mess around your kit they also keep their weight and balance all the way up to the point that they break, unlike sticks that peel. When you play loud these sticks feel sturdy and when you groove and play complex patterns the balance makes you feel in control and on top of the rhythm.

Broke after 3rd gig
I have used Pro Mark Shira Kashi for years now and have never had a problem, but these were bought cheap on Amazon for 12 quid I normally pay about 17 or 18 quid for these on ebay, during the 3rd gig they have completely split, not the normal splintering you get with stick from cymbals and rim shots but these have actually just split, the split is 5 inches long, Have put photos on to show sticks havent been abused, These normally last me about 7 or 8 gigs and then numerous rehearsals before they show signs of wear, like I say this is 3rd gig and no rehearsals, sticks are faulty, unusual for Pro Mark as I normally find these excellent sticks.

Fantastic Value for Fantastic Sticks.
I would highly recommend these drum sticks to any drummer regardless of skill or playing genre because they are so strong, durable, light and comfortable to use.I was given a pair many years back which were already worn and battered, however to my surprise they lasted over 2 years in my possession which is fantastic compared to my 2 day Vic Firth sticks! Once they eventually broke I immediately bought another pair, and after long uses there are hardly any marks or chipping into the stick!Furthermore if you are looking for a strong, highly durable, light, 5A drum stick these won't let you down! Also you will save a lot of money because you won't need to regularly buy new sticks.Happy Drumming!

Great … until tip broke
Bought these for my 12yo son at end of May. He liked them, good weight and balance for him. By end of July one of the plastic tips cracked. He doesn’t abuse his sticks so feel pretty disappointed they have such a short lifespan.

Great sticks!
I bought these initially as a joke for a mate who is a massive Rush fan. I tried them out myself and kept them. Lightweight, but with a hefty kick. I find it incredibly hard to break them. They have lasted ages. I'll never buy hickory again. I love 'em!Oh, and to all the people who say that they break after ten minutes, they are either faulty or you are using them wrong!I get a terrific crack out of them, really loud and they last weeks. Try to hit the drums in the middle and don't hit the cymbals on the edges, you'll not only break the sticks, you'll break the cymbals too!

Superb - Good bye hickory!!
I have become a hard hitter of late (for pop music so i don't play death metal or anything!) and using a lot of snare rim shots so my sticks have been taking quite the pasting! I read that Oak is a stronger wood and its true. These are my new favourite sticks and it took me a gig or two to get used to the oak but now I love them especially the ride definition you get from the tips. I get easily 25% longer from Oak than I did from Hickory

Re-placement sticks
After the one of the plastic tips broke off within a week of me purchasing these sticks, I got in touch with the supplier and they have have sent a new pair out straight away. Very professional service

Thin as a 7a, but as long as the average 5b
These are my goto sticks on my electronic drum kit at the moment. They are around the diameter of a 7a stick and they are as long as the average 5a/5b stick at over 16" long.

Not what I expected
The sticks seem good quality but were not what I expected or wanted. They are shorter than I anticipated which reduces the overall weight and is in my opinion not as nice to play with. I bought a denser wood for the heavier feel on a 7a that I just dont get from these.

Do not buy nylon tips!
I bought the ones with the nylon tips. I saw the other reviews mentioning they broke off easily, but thought no - they can't all be right. They are all right. After buying these, I played a gig with them and during the second song the nylon tip broke straight off followed by the second one during the next song. Definitely a manufacturing issue and I absolutely would not buy again.I have had the wooden tips before and they last a lot longer, just avoid the cheaper nylon ones!
