Bukowski!
I’ve read lots of his books but never this one. A real delight. A Master at his craft.

Bukowski's Best Book
Play the Piano Drunk is my favorite Bukowski book of any genre and I think easily his best book of poems, while being a shorter collection than usual. It's also the first book of his I ever read -- years ago -- so maybe I'm nostalgic. The first poem really grabs your attention and lets you know that you're in for a wild ride. The themes in this book are consistent Buk themes, such as sex, women, the track, his drinking, being a poet and his observations about other writers, to name a few. Even though it's a slim book, he packs a lot into it. John Martin did a great job of editing this collection. I view it as the bridge between his earlier experimental, harder edged stuff and his later, somewhat more mellow stuff, where's he's writing about his cats, his new BMW, etc., etc. It's a great book, and if you're unfamiliar with Bukowski, it's a great book to start off with. Highly recommended.

The Buk
This isn’t Bukowski’s best collection, but it is no waste of money. If you like Bukowski, you’ll like this collection.

Book was in great condition, Bukowski isn't my fave
Book was in great condition, Bukowski isn't my fave, but my friend likes him a lot, so it worked out fine. Arrived at secured facility unscathed, and incredibly quick (Amazon prime)

A Lot of Good Pieces Put Together and Published While the Author Was Alive and Busy Doing His Thing
A great volume of Bukowski, written as he was producing. Like Goldilock's favorite porridge, not to early and not too late (not that there's anything wrong with that stuff either).

Bukowski's touch.
If all the poetry books in the world were lost tomorrow except Bukowski's I would cope with it with sadness, but if any one of Buk's poetry books were lost, then I would be gutted. This I have read from cover to cover and enjoyed it very much.

Didn’t spot this was an actual Black Sparrow edition. Words are same artwork same but just not a Black Sparrow book.

Underated Classic by BUKOWSKI.
Buk has several periods of writing. There is the early stuff & then the later stuff.... all beyond good if you know his writing...... but his best work , his peak as a writer ( In my opinion is the period of 1975-1982 ) These 7 years contain some of his best work both in prose & poetry. This Book falls in that time period ..... just finished reading it. Some stuff you might have come across in other later books..... But there are a lot of poems that are contained within these 125 pages only , that you would have never read & they are beautiful..... especially one about him & a vilion player in the middle of the Book and several others that show a rare side of him, a side seldom most hardcore fans would have read.
