Pre-Installation context: I’m a 5ft tall, 21yr old female nail technician, living in a fairly new construction (3yr old) house with 9ft ceilings. I also currently have XL nails and have never installed a light fixture alone. The light was installed in about a 14’x12’ (master) room, but that’s just my guess on the room size. With all that said, this was probably the easiest installation I could’ve ever hoped for from buying this on a whim. I’ve never been high enough in my house to remove the plate that covered the wires on my ceiling fixture, so I had no idea what to expect other than that I’d be connecting a few wires eventually. I’ve replaced outlets in the past in my parents house and assisted in replacing a light fixture similar to this one, but this was extremely simple compared to what I was expecting. Aside from realizing I have a fear of heights once fully atop the ladder & touching the ceiling, this was very easy and literally could be done by anyone with two hands. My ceiling fixture had 4 wires. Red- Connects to the switch on the wall Black - Typically connected to any light fixture White - Typically connected to any light fixture Bare/Copper- Live wire Now those are very basic explanations of the wires for simplicity, in case anyone else has a matching or similar set up. This light figure does *NOT* need the live wire, or the copper/bare wire. All that’s attached to the Govee light fixture is a black and white wire, so from my understanding you can either go with just connecting those two to their corresponding wires in the ceiling, or you can connect them the way I did below Govee Light > Black wire - Red wire > Ceiling fixture Govee Light > White wire - White wire > Ceiling fixture The way I’ve explained is for anyone with a light switch connected to the ceiling fixture, hoping to also have that functionality along side the smart features. They have very easy connectors included, so all you need to do is slip the wire into place in the connector and fully snap the little lever down. Give the connector a gentle tug to ensure it’s closed and secure. If I can think of any more tips to provide I’ll update my review, but this light was overall very self explanatory and very simple to set up. It fully illuminates my room and works perfectly with my Gcync bulbs in coordination with all my Alexa devices. It looks small, but it’s very powerful and bright for this space size. I’m actually considering purchasing more for my other bedrooms in this house, it was *that* simple. I got mine with a $20 off coupon, so around $50, and it’s definitely worth the price!! It’s controlled by the Govee app and it works very nicely. Hope this helps!! Update: I installed a second one of these in my living room, but this time I installed the light with the colors of the wires matching. It still works with the switch! It also fully illuminates the (est.) 24x14x9 space, so this is a very powerful little light!

I’m absolutely loving the Govee Smart Ceiling Light! It has completely changed the vibe in my living room and bedroom, and I’m having so much fun with all the features. Brightness & Colors: This thing is seriously bright—like, it easily lights up the whole room without being harsh. I really appreciate the range of color temperatures; I can go from a soft, warm light when I’m winding down in the evening to a crisp, bright white when I need to focus during the day. And the colors? They’re amazing! Whether I’m in the mood for a calm blue or a party-ready rainbow effect, it delivers. Smart Features: Setting it up with Alexa was a breeze, and now I can just tell Alexa to change the lights or turn them off without even lifting a finger. The app is pretty cool too; it’s easy to use, and I’ve already set up a few DIY color scenes. I even scheduled it to turn on in the morning so I wake up to a gentle glow instead of a blaring alarm. It’s the little things, you know? Design: The light looks sleek and modern, and it fits right in with my decor. It’s not bulky, which is great because I didn’t want something that would dominate the ceiling, but it still makes a big difference in how the room looks. Installation: I’m not exactly a DIY expert, but getting this light installed was surprisingly easy. It took me about 20 minutes from start to finish, and I didn’t even need extra help. Overall: I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s stylish, super functional, and the smart features make it so convenient. If you’re thinking about upgrading your lighting, I’d definitely recommend giving this a shot!

I am very happy with the purchase. The light fixture arrived very swiftly. The installation was a breeze. The quality of this product is top-notch. The brightness level is very high. The app is very easy to master and has a lot of customuization option . The price is very good. couldnt be happier

Very easy to install. Lightweight fixture. Wouldn’t be too useful without the Govee app. Works well for basic features with many automation systems. Works with Home Assistant but, will need Govee to MQTT if you want advanced access to scenes and such. Overall, this is a fantastic light at a fantastic price.

The light that updates your room to a modern vibe. The many colors and vast customizability with the ease of use mobile app directly connecting either through bluetooth or wifi. The product box came with very nice items for a simple install the added wire connectors were quality and very functional when joining the wires to bring the power. Although there isn’t a physical remote control other than the room light switch itself the better replacement is the mobile govee app with its various premade scenes and effects. The app allows a lot of customization options to better suite your preferences. Light is bright and very dimmable. And now only the test of time will tell us what is the appropriate Lifespan which is being given in this to us for this colorful fun ceiling light.

This was very easy to install. I have no electrical experience and was able to have this up in minutes. I love all of the color and personalization options available. My only gripe is that I bought this "on sale" for Black Friday at $40, which is now the normal price. I love the Govee brand but this experience has me feeling duped.

We replaced our ceiling puck lights with these. Our original puck lights were mounted directly to round J-boxes in the ceiling. Took those off (2 screws) and installed the Govee mounting plate with the same screws. Connected the black and white wires between the Govee light and the house wiring with the original wire nuts. Positioned the light onto the plate, then with a counterclockwise turn it's all done! On the other hand, the Govee app is a mess. It gets the job done but it's crammed with so much junk (aka "features") that just get in the way, in my opinion. The light/color is even across the disc; the dimming function is welcome as it can get very bright in a small room. I'm still figuring out the app to see how to synchronize functions between 2 more lights. Overall, I'm very pleased with how easy it was to install, Matter support, the minimalist asthetic, and the lighting it provides.

After I posted my review, Govee reached out to offer a full refund. I really liked the light, so I asked if they’d consider sending me a replacement instead. I got it two days later, no hassle. They back up their product, whiteout a doubt. I had also purchased some of their other lights (led light bars) as Christmas gifts for my son, and he loves them. I’m happy to know that those are also backed by this level of service. New one works perfectly- thank you! [Original review-] There’s a spot on this particular light that stays illuminated when the main light is dark, which makes it kinda hard to live with. To be fair- the 1-star rating is on the specific light I received. If it wasn’t for that spot, this light is super-cool. Anyone could handle the installation, especially with the included quick-connects for the power. Effortless to connect to Alexa and AppleHome, the pre-loaded effects are nice, customization options are vast, and the interface is fluid. You can even use custom settings other users have created and uploaded, and share your own. My 5 year-old loves the volcano and forest settings, and Alexa makes it even easier to entertain himself with. Fully-functioning, it’s probably a 5-star product!
