Kick start clearing out
Bought two different declutter books. One for my son and one for me.Both suggested breaking the task in to manageable chunks so that it's not overwhelming. This is the English version (The 10 minute declutter book was American). Both full of common sense but it got me clearing out and it's a good feeling taking stuff to the tip or charity shop

A brilliant book!
This will echo previous reviews, but it's such a good book I had to write a review myself. Sue explains the psychology of hoarding (see how many features you recognise in yourself!) and how to overcomes these; and includes humourous examples to illustrate her points. For those of us who are faced with such a challenge that we've no idea where to begin, she gives clear guidance on how to start, suggesting different methods which will suit different personalities. For example, if you don't have much time, set yourself five minute challenges (chuck out all the pens which don't work; go through your sock drawer). Something that is easily forgotten is the need to reward yourself, and inspire yourself not to let it slide. Put a vase of flowers on your now-clear table so every time you see it, you will admire all your hard work! After reading this book, you will be inspired to leap off the sofa and start decluttering...

Working so far!
I love this book, I was totally fed up with my house (not quite like some of those hoarding programs but still way too much in it for the space) but not really knowing where to start, putting it off, moving things but not dealing with them, etc etc. This book completely kickstarted me into getting sorted. My house is still far from finished but the amount of things I have sorted out, thrown away, gifted, recycled etc is a lot. I particularly like the way the author advises the use of time scales. I, like most people have weeks where I'm so ridiculously busy, but I'm now in the habit to just do one little bit here and there until I'm less busy again - and appreciate what I have done rather than fretting about what's left. A very motivational yet practical book. It was also interesting reading about some of the psychology of hoarding, I could definitely relate to some of it, but in a good way it opens your eyes to the root of any hoarding behaviour. The one thing I would change is, although I love my kindle I do wish I had bought the paperback version on this occasion (despite cluttering the house more!) because I think the sections are nice to dip back in and out and I would have prefered to have a book lying around to do that. Definitely worth buying.

This book really inspired me to de-clutter my house
As a congenital clutterer of over 40 years this was the book which finally made the breakthrough. Full of sensible and logical advice, this book goes into the psychology of cluttering in a very readable way. Once you understand the many reasons for creating clutter in the first place, it is much easier to address the problem. Sue Kay also gives practical advice on where and how to begin and how to recycle superfluous things, giving other people a chance to enjoy them. I found it very inspiring and as a result am now able to enjoy my much more organized and clutter free home. For me, the most liberating sentence in the whole book is 'Don't keep clothes which don't make you feel fabulous when you are wearing them'.A fascinating and practical book which I can warmly recommend.

Inspiring
I would like to say a big thank you to the author of this book. I originally bought this book for myself about a year or so ago. Had bought a few others previously, but nothing in them that really stuck. This one however really worked for me and has made my home really clutter free. It's changed my whole way of thinking about a lot of things around the house. Recently, when my daughter said that she wanted to declutter her home, but didn't know where to start, I bought this book for her. She is as impressed with it as I was and is well on the way to a clutter free home. Occasionally when I want a bit of motivation, I dip in and out of it to random pages; this soon inspires me to do more (not that I have hardly any clutter these days). No matter how much or how little clutter you have, please read this book. It really works and the suggestions are so simple to put into action. Do as little or as much as you like at a time. You will see a difference and that in itself inspires you to do more.

inspiring, simple and easy to follow
I just love this book.Up till now the book has actually made a difference in my life, I am actually cleaning up my house and have made many new improvements at home. The author just tells me something that I haven't thought of before, how very important it actually is to live in a clutterfree home, in relation to your life as a whole, and how easy it is to start making new clutterfree improvements . For instance she tells you to start with small challenges like "picking up all paper clips in one room" or "go into one room and throw just one thing out".Actually I think it's quite funny to clean my house at the moment. The author has taught me to see my clutter in a new way and to deal with it in a simple manner. And she doesn't deal with any Feng shui at all. I Like that a lot, it can be to much with that in other books in my opinion. This book is very down to earth.

Great house tips.
Enjoyed this little handy decluttering tips book. One you can keep referring to as the "tips" are most helpful to the "hoarder" and peoole like myself who need to 'reorganise' their home.

Wow this is a great book
I have been a long-term hoarder having long-term illness hasn't helped me keep on top of it but I thought enough is enough as it is more tiring tryng a clean a cluttered house, I wanted to sort it out. I am doing ok so far but am the type of person who wants it all done now so the book has helped me to focus on small decluttering goals like sorting out my make-up bag and clearing the dining room table to bigger goals which are making the spare room into a gym. I have taken key notes from teh book to help me in my progress and taken photos so I can feel I have achieved something when I see how it was and hopefully I can get to grips with this hoarding once and for all!

This book is just common sense, yes it breaks everything down into segments but really it is obvious stuff like opening post on the day you get it.
