Easy to install and works great!
Easy to install and works great. I have been using it for 3 months and I love the display and that it has enough power to keep the weeds down and still gives me a good shock.

Works great
Purchased a second one from seller so it saved me a trip to town. Working great on goat fence and have another on pigs, works great as well.

A solidly built charger but the built-in voltage readout might be off
There isn't a lot to be said about fence chargers, but this one is nice and hefty, is domestically made, and puts out a good charge at a great price. The readout on the unit which shows at what level the fence is operating seems to not work well.... or maybe something is funny about my installation. When my handheld fence tester says 4.5 the charger will say 0.0. The only time i've gotten the charger readout to say anything other than 0.0 is when testing it on a short length of fence (about 100') with absolutely no weed load touching it. As soon as there is a load, it goes back to saying 0.0.At first I was dismayed so I tried my handheld tester and all is fine. Either way, it's a great workhorse for the price.

Parmak Mark 8 unreliable. AVOID THIS MANUFACTURER AT ALL COSTS.
I ordered this product from Amazon. it was Ordered in August 2016 and easily installed up on arrival. Unfortunately in November, it died. Would indicate nothing other than 0.00 on the display. I contacted the manufacturer and was told it needed repair, send it in at my expense and they would fix it under warranty. I contacted Amazon, and they sent a letter on to the company that actually shipped it, Champion Values. They responded that I need to take it up with the manufacturer for repair or replacement. Tarmac told me that repairs would take 7-14 days after arrival. I am now getting ready to send it in, but that means we have no fence protection for our horses for a month or so.Not good on anyone's part. Obviously not a very reliable unit. Lightning was not a cause here. The unit is mounted indoors and we have had no lightning strikes.Ok, here is a product review. I have changed the rating to the minimum allowed, and am recommending everyone stay away from this manufacturer. Obviously the product was unreliable in that it failed only a few months after purchase, but the bigger issue is that the manufacturer COULD CARE LESS!As I mentioned before, we had to send the unit back to the manufacturer at our own expense. I tracked the shipment to their facility. After two weeks of hearing nothing, I called and the lady told me it was repaired and she had to do the paper work and it would be shipped that day. After another two weeks of no word, I called again, and once again the lady told me it would be shipped "Today". She would not tell me why it was not shipped previously, in fact she was very curt and un professional. She was not concerned that we had animals that had NO fence protection.Basically, the dealer was unconcerned, as was the manufacturer. I would highly recommend that Amazon stop allowing this brand to be sold through their organization.

Parmak MARK8 Low Impedance 110/120-Volt 30-Mile Range Electric Fence Charger
The Mark 8 Fence Charger has exceeded my expectations. This will not only kill weeds and grass that grows into the fence, but also keeps working when dead branches from surrounding trees fall on the fence. The pulsating charge will not harm most birds when they touch a ground, unlike the continuous charge that most old chargers have. The Mark 7 lasted about three years of continuous use. I hope the Mark 8 will last at least that long, if not longer.Yes, the price is a little high, but compared to the lesser expensive models, this is much more dependable for a longer duration.

Great charger
Running this on our mini cow pasture. They touched it one time and stay away from the fence. Digital display is great and it puts out plenty of kick.

Amazon, Parker-McCrory and the charger all get a 5 star rating
This '30 mile' charger is overkill for my 200' X 400' garden/orchard but I wanted the deer, coyotes, ground hogs and rabbits to have something to think about. The output 'jolt' was a real shocker! At two years and 5 days of ownership it quit working. The actual use was two 6-7 mo. periods. It had a two year warranty.I packed it up and sent it to Parker-McCrory for repair with a note about the actual use time. They replaced the output transformer and returned it to me - free of charge. My only cost was the $17+ USPS charge to send it to them.A good charger and great customer service from the mfgr. and a good price from Amazon. What more could one ask for?

Best shocking power for the purchase price
I have owned 3 Parmak Mark 8 fence chargers run 24/7 year around over the last 8 years and found them to have best shocking power for the purchase price involved. We have an electric fence around 4 dried gourd displays at Lakeview Farms to protect against hungry squirrels, racoon, and possum who can spoil a $10 gourd just to eat a few seeds inside.Keep in mind that this unit like all sensitive electronic devices is subject to damage from voltage spikes--both on the input (110 volt supply line surges) and output (fence side due to nearby lightning strikes). Don't count on the 1 amp fuse on the input side -- plug it into an appropriate surge protector (like the Trip Lite Spike cube) that has a UL1449 clamping voltage less than 300 v and very short response time (less than 1 nano second). The other likely failure cause seems to be lighting damage on the fence side which can often (but not always) be eliminated by thorough fence grounding. If your unit fails during the warranted period we have found that Parker McCrory performs excellent repair work in a reasonable time and at no charge other than your cost of shipping the unit to them. If you have a critical need for your fence to be up 24/7 throughout the year like us, it would be wise to purchase a back up just in case.
