Not just chuckles, but bellylaughs.
I not only have the Ladybird Book of Dating, but The Hipster and The New You books. My boyfriend and I were first introduced to The Hipster when he took me out to dinner for my birthday. The restaurant had books scattered about, and The Hipster was near our table. We handed the book back and forth, each reading a page or two and showing the other the picture that accompanies each page of text. (These books are a bit like Dick, Jane, and Sally for grownups.) There were moments when we could almost not get the words out of our mouths as we were reading because it was so funny. It made for a great night every bit as much as the great food and ambiance at that restaurant.I went home and ordered the three books. When I received them, I gave The Hipster to the boyfriend (who has been accused of being one) and then we sat down to read The Ladybird Book of Dating together--only this time, I took on the entire show and tell process of reading the text and showing him the pictures. Our reactions to this book were just like our reactions to The Hipster. The text and pictures are twisted in the most humorous of ways--sometimes outrageously funny, sometimes eliciting a "What?" reaction.These books would make great gifts for anyone wanting to bring something to the host/hostess at a dinner (or other) party.

For a Single Friend or Relative Who Has Accepted Being Alone, but Keeps Trying
This book is great for a friend who can appreciate a dry sense of humor and laugh at herself for being too old to snag a passable mate. The Dick and Jane-style era illustrations enhance the helpful advice offered.
