Elementary school teacher approved.
Clyde’s Big Book of Brave is a lovely story about a barn cat who overcomes his fears of the night. I was excited to receive the book as I bought it for my niece who loves cats. It did not disappoint, the illustrations are gorgeous and full of color and magic. This is a great bedtime story for any child but particularly for any child who struggles with fears of the dark. You can’t help but be brave for Clyde as he overcomes his fears. As someone who taught elementary school for 10 years I appreciated the call for engagement. The author asks you to crow like a rooster and to encourage Clyde, “Don’t give up, you can do it Clyde!” A bonus at the end of the book was a photo of the real Clyde. I know that my niece will appreciate that.I was happy to see that this is only the beginning of a series, as the author announces another book to come, at the end. I’ll be sure to purchase, “Sue the Roo Goes on Strike,” as soon as it’s announced. If you are on the fence, go for it! For only $10 and some change it’s a great price.

Perfect nighttime book the help quell fears of the dark
My kids are 9 and 11, and I’ve read *a lot* of children’s books. Most of them are adequate, at best. Christine Glenn knocks it out of the park with her first book, Clyde’s Big Book of Brave! The illustrations are delightful, detailed, and magical, in a beautiful color palette. The story rhymes in clever and unexpected ways, making it fun to read aloud. Almost all parents need a nighttime book the help quell fears of the dark - or fears of the unknown - and this book fits the bill. I especially loved the wise owl who gently counsels Clyde. It was a perfect story for my son who loves owls and can get anxious at bedtime. I’m looking forward to buying it for friends too!
