DIRECTV Broadband Deca Ethernet to Coax Adapter - Third Generation (with AC Power Supply)

The DirectTV BroadBand Ethernet adapter is an amazing product which is a must have if you have coaxial ports just being unused in your homeHonestly one of the best products I've purchased. I've been looking to get a wired Ethernet connect to a room for a while now, which is quite far from the router. On WIFI I have frequent connection drops and pour Mbps at times. That's where this thing comes in. Looking on the internet for coax to Ethernet they're all way out of budget. But this thing is less than $10 and you only need 2 to get a nice Ethernet connection running. If you're like me and you pay for a 100mbps plan, this is for you as it supports up to 100mbps so you're getting the full bang for your buck out of your service provider without the wifi signal drops or speed fluctuations. As of now I have had no problems with this device and have bought more as time went on. Keep in mind however, you may initially face issues if you'd decide to extend to another room but over time it will sort itself out. Also if you enjoy gaming, this thing provides 80-90mbps download 19upload and 25 ping. Also dude to it's stability you don't have to worry about connection drops during gaming either. .

Been using these for years. As long as you only need 100mbps they’re fine. I have four going now on one coax “network,” no issues. I get nearly 100mbps and no packet loss. These are not “point to point,” you can put three on the same circuit, it’ll work. They can be USB powered, but *not* by a “dumb” power supply. I don’t know why. But if you run a USB micro cable to an actual “device” (computer, game console, etc.) it powers it fine. From a normal 5V power supply, nope. So if you’re having that problem, there’s your answer. Overall a great and cheap way to use existing wire as long as the speed works for you.

I bought a pair of these to try to make for a stable internet connection in an area that had spotty WiFi coverage, and where it is not easy to run an Ethernet connection, but cable wiring already exists. I tried connecting these using the existing cable wiring in my house and could not get a connection. My computer indicated it was connected, but that the device IP was invalid. So I tried a “best case” test by connecting the pair to each other using a 6’ length of coax. I tested the ethernet connection without the DECA in place and got 350 Mbps. I disconnected the cable from my laptop, plugged it in to one of the DECA adapters, and used another Cat6e cable to connect the other DECA adapter to the laptop, then ran the same speed test. With the adapters, speed dropped to 30 Mbps. And that’s over just 6’ of coax, no splitters, no other factors. I expected something closer to 100 Mbps in this setup. I don’t need this connection to be blazing fast, but 1/3 of the stated speed in an ideal scenario just isn’t going to cut it.

This deca adapter solved a big issue. I upgraded my food service and the new box has only Ethernet out, not coax. During the midst of COVID, Verizon wouldn’t pass the cable to my basement, where my router was. This deca adapter did the trick. I used it as a bridge to get Ethernet over coax to my house. Please be aware that you may need a proper coax splitter to match the frequency of the adapter . They are very inexpensive at about $6. Also you will need 2 of these deca adapters , one at the source (Ethernet in, coax out) and one at the destination (coax in, Ethernet out). Also the max speed is between 80-95Mbps. This is plenty for HD video and gaming and working and video conferencing at the same time.

Using this to extend ethernet over existing coax;. I don't have cable TV, so there's no interference, and these are 1/10 the cost of comparable MoCa adapters. Only negative is that these are supposedly able to be powered using the supplied AC adapter *or* USB; however I could not get the USB option to work, despite trying several cables and USB supplies.

My old house never had CAT5/6 runs installed. Rather than spending a ton of time running drops and dealing with the hassle, I decided to set up a MOCA network, using the existing COAX infrastructure since I don't use Cable TV. Most MOCA adapters are extremely overpriced, and since I needed at least 10, I looked for an alternative. Behold, the DirecTV 'DECA' adapters! The work phenomenally and are priced very fair! I have one adapter feeding three other adapters, therefore feeding nearly 25 hardwired devices, including an additional router (extended from my main router), and for years, I haven't had any issues. These things are phenomenal, and I highly recommend them for anyone who needs to use their existing COAX to carry internet signals.

Has to be used with an in-house router. Will not work with coaxial cable alone.

I bought 2 of these devices as house has no ethernet wiring and it does serve the purpose for ethernet over coax (old cable TV cables). The highest speed you can get is close to 100Mb even when I connect it with 1 Gb router on one end and just computer on the other end (with 1 Gb CAT6). I hoped for more, but better than nothing.
