Been playing around with Ham radios recently and when I saw this upgraded BAOFENG Ham Radio pop up, I decided to give it a try. What caught my attention at first when looking at this radio was the size of the radio itself. I initially thought that the radio was built this way, but after receiving the radio, I realized it was the extended battery that increased the length of the radio. Without the battery, the size of this radio is rather small. But with that said, having the extended battery worked out well for me as the radio as it provides a bit more surface area for my hand to maintain a firm grip. From an ergonomic standpoint, this Ham radio feels better in my hands in comparison to my other similar but smaller Ham radio that I own.On top of the standard accessories such as a charging dock, this Ham radio comes with a USB cable that allows you to charge the battery directly, a simple earpiece headset to use with the headset, and a belt clip. The one thing about the belt clip is that you will need to remove 2 screws to mount the bracket for the clip onto the radio itself. Which was slightly different from what I'm used to where the clip slides into place on the back of the battery. A minor thing to keep in mind when getting this Ham radio setup for use.And of course the biggest draw of this BAOFENG Ham Radio is the price. This is a very budget friendly radio, especially with all the accessories that you get, which allows a wider range of people to get into the Ham radio hobby without having to spend an arm and a leg to get one.

These slim versions of the Baofeng radios are pretty neat. They have a solid feel to them, especially at this price point. I find these basic LCD displays easier to read vs. the color LCD ones Baofeng also has. Programming can be a bit tedious using the menu system in the radio so do yourself a favor and pickup a programming cable for $10 and get the free Chirp programming software, it's a lifesaver and will get your radio programmed in about 5 minutes!This radio includes the stiff short antenna which can be a little annoying vs. the floppy short antenna which can give some when you bump it into things. The included cable is not for programming, only USB charging direct to the battery. There are no USB-C ports on this radio for charging which is a shame.Decent little radio at a cheap price point that won't bother you if something happens to it. Does it have the best speaker? No, does it have the best signal output/harmonics, No. Would I have it as my one and only radio? Probably not, but for light occasional use it'd be fine.

This radio is great. I've had different Baofengs models over the years, though this one is certainly an improvement. Great battery life, easy to use, performs great, and a great communication solution for hiking, or just keeping in touch with local friends. Definitely recommend.

I got this radio for communications to my friends and family. I am very impressed by this radio because it's so light weight and very simple operation. I like that this radio has a back kit keypad which makes it very easy to see at night. It also has a bonus flash light at the top which is very handy. All of the buttons are very easy to press. The keypad is a little small, but I can use pretty well with my large fingers. I really like that this kit has a lot of accessories, the belt buckle is very nice and strong. I also like the hand strap is great for using while carrying the radio, but not having to hold it. This radio has a very large and long lasting battery which is a great feature. This radio is great because it packed full of features, but one I like most is that you can scan frequencys. The audio quality is very clear and this radio has a high quality speaker and a wide variety of volume levels.

I have several of the UV-5Rs and love them. This continues the tradition of affordable and durable radios from BAOFENG. The long version of the battery here also includes usb charging and a cable to do that. Programming these is a pain so make sure to get the programming cable and the chirp software. Have been using this for the last month and it is great.

This Baofeng handheld ham radio is an incredible value. The description says it’s a “walkie talkie for adults” which isn’t really accurate … at least in the USA. You need a license to transmit with this radio. You can listen all you want without a license. This radio is an upgraded version of the UV-5R, with the main difference being that this radio receives AM signals on frequencies 108-136MHz (Rx only), which means you can listen to airplanes.If you’ve never owned a Baofeng, you really need to read the manual to learn how to use it.All that aside, this is a great beginners radio. And it’s making me consider getting a license!

I own UV-5R (prior model), and the only two differences are: new AM reception mode and new "copy frequency" feature that automatically tunes the receiver to the transmitting frequency of another receiver. AM reception is not the best, and there are no, as of now, firmware modifications that can improve it, but overall, it is a slight step-up from the prior version.Baofeng radios are well known for being cheap utility radios that can sustain some abuse. You would greatly regret drop your $700 Kenwood in the water during a weekend lake trip, but with $25 Baofengs, well, things happen, just go buy another one.

Great quality as usual from Baofeng. I have several of their radios and this one doesn't disappoint. Great little budget HAM radio. It also can be programmed with a cheap cable and CHIRP software (free)
