Sperry top-sider

just to clarify
There is some conflicting information about this product in the reviews. It did NOT come with a needle or any sort of tool (the picture is deceiving) and it is NOT one continuous piece that needs to be cut. I received two pieces and they were perfect to replace topsider laces that our dog had chewed! The easiest way to do it, is to attach the new lace to the end of the old lace and pull it through. The hardest part will be getting a needle and through to attach them, but then gently pull it through, easy peasy!

Irresistible to all canines
Let me tell you a story……..I recently bought a pair of Women’s Sperry snow boots. Within a week my dog who has never chewed footwear before had eaten the laces out of my boot.I drove 45 min to the Sperry Outlet to get replacement laces. The fine gentleman behind the counter informed me that I was the third person JUST THAT DAY who had to replace laces that their dog had chewed.Sperry may actually make more on replacement laces than they do on shoes. The fine gentleman behind the counter also told me that Sperry only makes replacement laces in a handful of colors even though they sell their shoes with a rainbow of lace colors.I purchased a different color than what I wanted but they worked. I also had to read a blog post (and attempt several times) to figure out how to twist the laces at the end to replicate the way the laces were when initially purchased.Given the above experience I purchased a back-up pair of laces in the color I actually wanted (the ones for which this review is for).Fast forward a week from receiving these back-up laces…..I come in the house and remove my boots. I walk away from boots for 14 seconds to hang up my coat. Return to stow boots and now BOTH my dogs have chewed both laces in an impressively short amount of time that indicates a disturbing level of premeditation.I reread the blog on how to do the twisty lace technique again (I’m getting really good at it now) and put in the new laces 4 days ago.Now these dogs are nibbling my laces while I’m wearing the boots. They are like crackheads when it comes to these damn laces. Im considering marinading the laces in hot sauce.

The lace was too big for the metal threader

The picture may be misleading
My order only came with the leather strings. I didn’t get the metal needle type thing to thread the string through the side of the shoe. I don’t know if it’s supposed to come with it or not. It’s hard to do without it. I have to find something else to get the leather string to go through

Works as designed and responsive vendor
I delaced my Sperrys to “polish” them, and I realized that relacing would be an issue. So, I searched and found the lace and needle kit. I ordered, and initially only the laves came, but after telling the supplier, they quickly sent the needle and it was a breeze. The needle will come in handy in the future.

Laces were great, needle less so
The laces did the job I needed, but the needle was largely useless. The lace was too big to thread into the back end. I ended up taping it, which worked for 2 of the 3 loops. The third was a tight fit that wouldn't go through without pulling the tape off. After that I used a paper clip with a small bend crushed on the end of the laces with a pair of pliers. This was much easier, and what I probably should have done from the beginning. The laces are longer than the ones that came on my Sperry's though, which is nice since I could cut off the part that I used to pull the lace through. This may not be the case for everyone though, so compare the old laces to the new one before doing anything that might damage it majorly.

Great replacement laces!
Perfect repair! The new laces are considerably longer than the originals, so just cut them down to size for a perfect replacement. The color is an exact match. So much so that I have only used one lace out of the new pair so far. It takes a bit of work to guide the “needle” through the shoe eyelets, but it is totally do-able. Just bend and flex the shoe as needed. I was expecting the lace to come out of the needle on my way around the Top-Sider and that I’d have to start over once or twice, but it never did! The open end of the needle has threads that screw onto the lace and hold it securely while you work your way around the shoe. Very pleased with this purchase. New life for my daily Sperry’s!

Perfect
This review is for SPERRY REPLACEMENT LACES! I just bought a pair of silver slip ons ( they look like boat/tennis shoes) but they came with a brown lace which I thought looked horrible. These metallic silver and gray laces were perfect and with the online video help from Sperry, I was able to make them look just like the original laces with barrel ties. The laces come two in a set and are more than long enough to replace most lace up shoes. I measured them at 46 inches each.

Great to fix your shoes
This allowed my husband to fix his shoes so it worked fine but it was very expensive.

Cannot Use
My laces arrived but without the needle they were supposed to come with they are useless to me. I spent $30 on shipping costs for a product I cannot use.
