Monty Don's Paradise Gardens [DVD]

i saw these two programmes on television and was so in awe of the first because i had seen all of the gardens shown in Spain, Morocco and Iran. So it was good to have the DVD as a reminder and record of them along with all the explanations of their creation. The second programme on television I was disappointed with but on watching it twice more on DVD I realised that these gardens dad other influences. Those in Turkey were influenced by the west while those in India were modified by the British. I am glad that we were shown the Taj and its reflection in the river since I did not realise that the gardens were extended over the river. Finally, the programme came to Highgrove, England showing the garden ordered as an Islamic garden with the variation in planting that was needed for the english climate.

Really interesting to get to know a civilization by it's gardens

The first programme is wonderful, focusing on the gardens of Spain and Morocco... very interesting, inspiring and beautifully filmed. Much less impressed by the second programme, but it was still intriguing. Interesting travels in Persia. Segment from Turkey and India disappointing. Anyway, worth buying just for the first episode.

This is a fantastic two-parter. The first part is stronger than the second part because a lot of the gardens in part two have been changed from their original design. Monty Don is the perfect knowledgeable host. Enjoy!

ALL OF MONTY DON'S DVD'S ARE GREAT INCLUDING THIS ONE. I GET A LITTLE TIRED OF SEEING HIM INSTEAD OF THE WONDERFUL GARDENS BUT HE DOES KNOW HIS TRADE. I WOULD RECOMMEND ALL HIS DVD'S WHICH GIVES ONE A GLIMPSE OF TRULY INSPIRED GARDENS, EACH UNIQUE AND ALSO ALLOWS ONE TO TRAVEL THE WORLD THROUGH GARDENS, HOW WONDERFUL WOULD THAT BE.

avevo già visto le puntate del tour in TV ma averle su DVD è molto meglio in quanto si possono vedere e rivedere. Ottime descrizioni dei giardini e grande fonte d'ispirazione sia per il proprio giardino che per un eventuale programma di viaggio (o solo virtuale).
