I love this very funny series.... although this was far too short! Can't wait for the next one now
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi.Another very funny addition to this amusing series. This story is about Frankie, the county coroner, and her mad family who all live in Lake Sackett. The new sheriff to town, Eric, was harder to like. He and Frankie had a one-night stand a while ago, without knowing who the other was, then Eric started working in Lake Sackett and of course immediately bumped into Frankie, who had run off after their night without saying goodbye. He had a big issue with this and wasn't nice to Frankie and was a very uptight and by the book sort of person. The main story was about someone causing hassle to Frankie and her family by doing childish pranks, like letting crickets out in the bait shop or swapping hot sauce for normal sauce in the cafe. Irritations, but nothing illegal. Jared is the prime suspect, a pain of a 16 year old who has had a antagonistic relationship with Frankie since he was 6 when she caught him trying to break into the Mortuary and dragged him out. He was a really nasty spoilt brat who really needed a kick up the behind. This was very enjoyable, but far too short and definitely a teaser for the next book as it ended quite abruptly with nothing sorted out. It's definitely not one to read on it's own without having read the rest of the series, or being prepared to read the next one, as you'll have no idea what's going on! I can't wait for the next full length story now though to find out what happens in the prank war, and to see if Frankie and Eric sort out their differences.

I was really enjoying the story and then it just ...
I was really enjoying the story and then it just stopped. I thought maybe the book didn't download properly. What the heck? Seriously. It just stops. what was there was well written but how disappointing that it just ended that way. I don't even want to read any more because I'm so aggravated.

Just a Teaser
You know how some authors post the first few chapters of their upcoming book a month or two before publication? Well, Molly Harper publishes a long prologue for $1.99 (Kindle) instead.

What? A cliffhanger from Molly Harper?
I hope there's some kind of mistake, because my day just got ruined. If it really is a cliffhanger, please say so in the description. Molly is a fave, and I'll happily wait for the complete series. But this is no fun. This is no fun deep fried on a stick.

Waste of money!
Did I just pay for a couple of chaters of a full book??! Huh? It was good and then it just stops. I HATE that. Especially when I paid for it. What a waste of money.

Story is just getting good when it ends abruptly
Strange. Story is just getting good when it ends abruptly. It’s like the book is half done.

Not a complete story.
I enjoyed the story (what there was of it), the characters, the humor, and the writing. I would have rated it more highly except it's a cliffhanger introduction to her next book and wasn't in any way complete in itself. I was really enjoying it and then it just ends which is really dissatisfying. It wouldn't have been so bad if some part of the story gave a sense of resolution while leaving me wanting more, but this just ended abruptly.

Prologue
This short book is a “set-up” for the next book in the series about Frankie, the coroner, and the new Sheriff, who have a past encounter to overcome. A lot of readers have given this book less stars because they were unprepared for the “cliffhanger “ ending but since I was prepared, I am able to fairly review the book. As always, Molly Harper’s style of writing holds your interest throughout the whole book and the characters have a snappy & snarky way of talking that just tickles my funny bone. Don’t be put off by the low number of stars...just buy this book and the next and you won’t be disappointed! 🤓

Bait and switch, rip-off.
Let me start by mentioning that I’m a Molly Harper fan. Or I was, until she started up her new scam of having her readers fork over money for a few chapters and then set the hook, setting the rest of the book up as a separate entity for $11.99. This isn’t a book, it’s a teaser, which most authors will set out for free. On top of that, her kindle book prices have always been high, but are now ridiculous. Another enjoyable thing ruined by greed.

Just a taste...
This is just 8 chapters. Reading the previous reviews it looks like it's just a set-up for an upcoming full length book (hopefully full length). But still, had I known that, I'd have passed and spent the money on something that gives me a bang for the couple of bucks. Also, the story...meh. It's a little, or a lot, formulaic at this point. Boy meets girl, things, boy standoffish and it's driving girl batty. We've seen it. We've seen it in this very series. I'm just really not impressed anymore.

I don't believe that is the case as long as you realize there is not a resolved love story in this book and it is just setting-up ...
This is a quick short story that begins the story of Frankie and the new sheriff Eric. The style of this book is different than your typical romance or even romantic comedy and is honestly light on romance but heavy on the comedy. For those complaining that the book ends abruptly, I don't believe that is the case as long as you realize there is not a resolved love story in this book and it is just setting-up the next book. There is still a self contained story that is enjoyable and I can't wait to see what happens with Frankie and Eric.

It's only 8 chapters long and nothing resolves
Do not waste your money on this set. It only contains 8 chapters of this book. I'm not sure if it's worth nagging Amazon to get the rest. Without the paranormal, this is reminding me too much of the Bluegrass novels, just with more fried food and idioms. It's like the McCreadys are a werewolf pack without actually being werewolves to make it interesting. The chracters are colorful, but many are two dimensional, at least the "evil" ones are, seemingly mean for no reason other than to move along the plot. Meh. I'd skip this series if you really loved the authors pervious work, this just isn't up to snuff.

where’s the book?
What happened to this “book”? There’s a reasonable start follow ed by lots of repetition from another (and much better book in the series) and then what might be the end of a chapter is the end of this so-called book. This should have no stars, but that isn’t an option.

Very enjoyable but ends in a cliffhanger!!!
Cliffhanger!!!Ok, I was really liking this story but I didn't see anything in the description to indicate this ends abruptly. So while this was very enjoyable, I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you have the rest of the story available (which apparently is in "Ain't She a Peach?").

The story drops off a cliff, but Frankie is worth following to the edge.
I wanted to love this little story, and I think I did until the end... an end which came rather abruptly. The book just STOPS with no explanation nor does the book blurb state reading this novella is pretty much a prerequisite to reading Ain't She a Peach. I may not care a bit about Jared's subplot, but I LOVE Frankie. Her voice is the only redeemable thing about this book. She is hilarious and likeable. I'm going to pick up the next in the series just because if her, not this "goes nowhere'' story.

Laugh out loud funny
In this return to Lake Sackett, Georgia we get a sneak peek at the kerfuffle that is Frankie McCready’s life. Frankie is dealing with a prankster in the form of a snot nosed teen, being the towns mortician and coroner and dealing with the sexy if taciturn new sheriff in town. This book sets up the next one in the series Ain't She a Peach? coming out in June. I enjoyed this novella but really wanted more. It will tide me over till June.
