Hey Joe, No resistor is required for a 6 volt LED bulb (it is built into the bulb) and the bulb tip is positive if you are wiring it to DC, and operation is non polar for AC. Q: I blew out the bulb that came with this kit. What is the replacement bulb i need to order and is there a compatible led replacement bulb option?

The bulb is a #47 with a BA9 base. It is 6.3 volts AC. There are other voltages in incandescent, neon, and LED available in this size and base type on Amazon depending on what your application requirements are. Thanks for asking.

The lamp / bulb is typically run from the 6.3v power transformer tube heater circuit tap in a tube amp, which is the recommended voltage for the tube heaters as wel, and changing this voltage may cause the tubes to malfunction or become damaged. For other uses / voltages, you would need to try at your own risk to see if it lights bright enough for you, or at all depending on the chosen voltage other than 6.3VAC. 5 volt led bulbs are available on Amazon, and can run on AC or DC.

Great retrofit for old amp!

Ancient Precision Electronics tube PA head. Had a tiny, tiny plastic dot with a bulb behind it, making it hard to tell if it was powered on. Got the lamp assembly, drill and dremel’d out the right size hole, soldered the assembly in, put the bezel on and fired it up - EXCELLENT! Because of ‘hacking’ and not having a big enough drill bit, took me about an hour to get this together. Love the new BRIGHT lamp!
