Best As Can Be
This retro-look can should keep you happily cooking for a long time. It tastes as fresh as canned black pepper can. It easily opens and closes without trouble. The taste is spot on. No issues with freshness or flavor.Unfortunately, the handling, packaging, and delivery of it may bang it up quite a bit so be peppered; Prepared! You'll have a nice shiny gold dented can for a long while.

Love This Pepper!
I put ground black pepper on pretty much everything (savory) that I eat and this pepper, like it says on the tin's text and graphics, does taste "gourmet." I can't tell you exactly what "gourmet" tastes like, it's a "you know it when you taste it" sort of thing, but I knew it when I first tasted it and that's why I'm agreeing with it being labeled "Gourmet." Watkins Black Pepper generates the same heat in my mouth that most any commonly available ground black pepper does, but it does it in a slightly slower-to-reveal-itself, subtler sort of way. The price is right as well. $5.99 for a 6 oz tin of ground black pepper is a decent price for most any ground black pepper.

About as fine ground as pepper can be without becoming powder.
I like my pepper refills finely ground. Many brands say finely ground, yet they are more course ground and thick. This pepper is truly finely ground, any more and it's become powder. Great for refilling the shaker containers, strong pepper flavor and scent.

Life long consumer of Watkins superior spices
I have used Watkins products for over forty years. They are by far the best in quality. You get what you pay for, and I have no problem paying a little more for a superior product. The flavor is outstanding and the heat is unmistakable. Well worth a few extra pennies!

good price, not a lot of flavor
I got this to get some pepper quick in a new apartment, but not a lot of flavor if you are used to fresh ground pepper. I ended up buying a small grinder at a local grocery store. I will only use this for general cooking, not finishing a meal, but it takes twice as much sometimes.

The best pepper for easy, flavorful steaks (and cooking in general)
Hard to over-pepper foods with this pepper. Was originally turned on to it when my mother bought it for me from a little french cafe in Ft Worth. On a whim, I checked Amazon to see if it was sold, as I was getting desperately low and I love this stuff. An AMAZON FOR THE WIN! They had this pepper. It's super good. very mild in terms of spice, and provides a GREAT flavor. It is unquestionably my go-to pepper when seasoning ribeye steaks. (Just salt and pepper for this puritan - but not just ANY pepper!)

ground just right
This is the best ground black pepper I have ever used. I was so tired of pepper from the big manufacturers which is so fine it is almost uncontrollable, when placed in a conventional pepper shaker. This is ground just right: perfect size -- not too large and not too small. Good spice, and good value considering the quality.

Finest Pepper
Pepper can be a relative taste. Watkins always seems, at least thus far to hit it spot on. Not too hot, but not too mild. I am one who enjoys the taste of pepper, sometimes the more the better, but again it depends on the pepper. Well done Watkins.
