This is a stylish looking pen that serves as a sound recorder, as well as a working biro. The recording is easy, but playback requires either using the included headphones or connecting to a computer via the included micro USB to USB-A lead.Some questions you might ask before buying this recorder:1- How easy is it to record sound?You simply have to push the top plunger down to start recording and push it again to stop and save the recording2- How soon does the recording start?I timed this on a stopwatch, counting the seconds from 0,1,2,3,4,5, etc beginning from the moment I pushed the top button down. The first number I heard on playback was the number 11. This means you have to wait ten seconds after pressing the button before any recording will take place. The device does give you visual indication by a small flashing red light, but I think this time period is quite revealing! So don't expect any instant recording to be captured.3- Does it save the recording automatically?Yes. when you press the top button whilst it's in recording mode, it automatically turns on blue light and saves the recording, then it shuts down.4- How good is the quality of the recording.?The speech is very clear and anyone talking near the pen can be picked up and heard clearly. Music is not so good, but this is a dictaphone-style device, so no complaints here.5-Does it record in stereo?Not that I can notice, I think it's basically mono only.6- How robust is the pen body?The body is strong and well made, however, the pocket/ shirt clip is not so good, It has quickly come loose on my recorder. It still holds well, but it's not that well attached, I think.7- Do you get movement sounds on the recording?Yes, lots of clicking and hand sounds if you move the pen around or fiddle with your fingers. Not surprising, as the mic is attached to the pen internally.8- How easy is it to playback the recordings?A) unscrew the barrel from the top and plug in the micro USB lead(included) and then the other end into your computer USB port. When you do this it behaves as a USB disk drive, showing all your recordings in a list. Click on any one to hear it using your default sound player.B) plug in the included headphones into the barrel port, they have a micro USB plug that goes in the same socket as the USB lead. The headphones have a built-in play>next>back button that allows you to navigate the sound files.9- How do I copy/ delete/ transfer files?When connected to your computer, you can copy/ delete/ transfer/ post-process any or all files as you want.10- How do I know it's recording?You get a series of red lights showing under the pen clip as soon as you push the top button down, as soon as these go out, you're recording.11- Will other people know I'm recording them?No, once the lights go out, there is no indication, visually or audibly that the pen is in record mode. When you push the top a second time, there is a tiny blue light that flashes on then off, but if the pen is clipped in the top pocket, etc, you, or anyone else will never see it. These lights are really tiny. IF anything they are too small for the user to see.12- will it save my recording if the battery runs out?Up to a point, yes. Before the battery exhausts, it stops and automatically saves the file up to that point. Of course, you may still think it's recording when it's not but you will always have some data up to the battery exhaustion point.13- Anything else I should know?Yes, handle carefully - if you push the top button down by mistake (there's no click) and don't notice it, the recorder will run indefinitely, until the battery exhausts.In summary, this is a neat device that really does a great service for recording sound as well as a writing pen. It comes with spare refills for the biro part and the ink is a good and solid colour, if you prefer to write. IN my opinion, this is a worthy £25 device providing you have a good use for it.

After using this pen fro couple of months, I can say that the quality of recorded sound is very poor, unless you keep it no further then 30 cm form your mouth!! Very poor recording of your counterpart or meetings!
