Does this product contain catnip?

No it does not contain catnip!  All leather strips.  My cat goes crazy for this toy.  Have purchased two of them so far.  He chews on the leather strips.  I feel it is a very good toy for cats.

Question 2

All three negative reviews about the quality are recent.  Is this toy now manufactured differently?  I hesitate to buy it if it is going to fall apart

The original version of this wand was great - and my cat LOVED it. He wore out the furry end. I bought a new one in December and the string broke from the plastic wand within days. The design/manufacture of the wand HAS definitely changed and the connector is less sturdy. When I went to return it, the seller says no refunds unless 'new' condition... and warns that fees for shipping might be charged!

how long is this toy from end to end?

4 foot. The wand portion is approximately half that length. I was gifted my first mouse toy, and it had the lower wand portion removed, leaving the black twisted plastic (nylon?) section to make close play with a small kitten possible. They like chewing on the twisted part, so it's great when they are teething. Now that my kitty is bigger, my complete wand is plenty long for more vigorous play.
