I am not a cricket player (sorry). However, reading a critical review of this item which complained about the fact that the ball is "hollow to pass the string" gave me an idea: massage/trigger point ball on a string. I've tried items ready-made for that purpose with disappointing results (too soft/squishy for my preferences), so I reasoned that a ball meant to be struck with a cricket bat would be up to the task. The material quality is certainly better than that of foam massage balls, and feels much more durable. The ball is ~2.8in/71mm in diameter, and if it is, in fact, hollow as the other review claims, its walls are very thick, so it deforms very little under considerable weight. The included string is approximately 12-feet long, and can stretch by 15-20%. For my use, I would prefer something more robust like paracord, but it is acceptable. I do not recommend that you remove the string from the ball unless you have tools to put it back in (I used wire and a 12" upholstery needle). I cut the string to my desired length and added knots at the ends to prevent fraying, and on either side of the ball to keep it centered. It can be used on the floor, but the string is beneficial for when the floor is not an option, allowing me to quickly target any trigger point on my back when reclined against a door or wall. The ball retains its shape and can apply a moderate amount of pressure (a smaller diameter would be needed for deeper pressure). I'm certainly not the target consumer for this product and can't comment on its usefulness for batting practice, but I'd recommend it as a trigger point ball if you've been unhappy with purpose-made items for that application.

Not as show in the photo has a black string and ball is hollow to pass the string which makes is lighter. They had a much better one before.

Glad to see some cricket-related products on Amazon. With free shipping, it makes shopping for cricket items easy. My kids' coach recommended practicing with a hanging ball for hand-eye coordination and footwork. Set up is easy with the provided thread. When practicing with this ball, the ping and feel are close to a leather ball. It didn't damage the English willow bat. The return rhythm is predictable enough to find a flow quickly and stay focused. It's a simple, rugged tool that takes the excuses out of training when you are solo or when the weather doesn't support outdoor practice. If you are serious about your footwork and timing and don't want to rely on a bowling machine, this is a no-brainer for your cricket kit.

This is a great product for what it's meant for but I purchased it as an off label usage so to speak. Because it is a cricket practice ball with a whole drill through it and a rope attached to it, I am going to use it to help me determine where to pull up in my garage with my car. I'm going to suspend it down from the ceiling and this way I know when I touch the ball and move it I've gone far enough ahead in the garage. Lol. I know it's a silly use but I think it's going to work fabulously!

I got this hanging cricket ball for my son to practice batting at home, and it works really well. The ball is made of hard PVC and feels strong, just like a real cricket ball. It hangs nicely and comes back after every hit, so he can practice alone without needing anyone to bowl. It has really helped him improve his timing and hand-eye coordination. For the price, the quality is very good, and itโs perfect for home or backyard use.
