Best maps I've found so far
I've bought a lot of maps and the National Geographic (NG) maps are the best. For example, I bought the NG John Muir Trail Map as well as the Tom Harrison's JMT maps and compared them (for my trip later this year). Harrison's map is supposed to be one the best JMT maps available. At first blush, they seemed to be pretty similar, but after a minute or two, I started to see information on the NG map that wasn't on the Harrison map. The Harrison map had a little more color and seemed to jump out at you more (I want to say it had more contrast). Also, the Harrison map is closer (without resorting to a technical explanation of map scale, if the NG map was at 20,000 feet, the Harrison map was at 16,000 feet...I'm making up the feet here, it's for illustration purposes). But the NG map had more information such as:1. there are "elevation profiles" at the bottom of each page which is very useful.2. more of the side trails were labeled (named)3. way more campsites were shown4. there are notes like "Fill up on water. No water source 5 mi southbound (creek at switchback)"5. there are mileage markers to both ends of the trailI'm going to take both maps, but if I had to take one, it would be the NG map.

Great Section of Trail
The Map was very helpful for planning. We did a 21 mile stretch over the weekend so finding parking at either side was very important. Elevation was a little difficult to interpret at times but overall the Map was great. Very durable as well.I liked that the pages overlapped. It caught me off guard at first, but once I got used to the format, it was very helpful.

Quality, close-up detail, and enough overlap from page to page to stop excessive flipping between pages. Very tear-resistant, waterproof plasticized paper as well, akin to material many nautical charts are made of now.
