Funny book
Great read, very funny. I have been to plenty of the places it mentions and tend to agree with the author. A good present for those friends that love days out to rubbish places.

Unmissable and unbeatable; eye wateringly funny.
As soon as you see the cover, you know you're in for a treat. And then you turn to the introduction and the first sentence alone should put you in the frame for what's about to come.By far, this is the funniest of all the "humour section" books i've read, to date. Nothing i can say will justify the smooth, easy lull into the pit of despair and hilarity this book will place you in, within minutes of reading it. The fact that nearly everyone should recognise at least a few of these places is one great selling point. But the main raison d'etre for shelling out for it, is the rhetorical style; there is no questioning some of the arguements put forward. As a result, you have no choice but to laugh , or at the very least giggle yourself into a stupor, when you read the entries. The author(s) are even kind enough to set the scene for you, in case you really have no idea where or why some of these "days out" exist. From dinosaur museums that are the equivalent of a cheap living room set up for kids, to a swathe of other well known landmarks, nothing is off limits. Buy it, laugh your head off, and be warned; you'll never see a day out in the UK, the same way ever again.

Gets boring....
Places I've never heard of and places I know - all subject to a bit of a pasting. I ended up dipping into the book because I got bored after 10 minutes - I'd leave it for a couple of days then go in again. I agreed with much of the content of course but I wouldn't rate it as a Holiday Guide!

Misses the mark somewhat
While I would agree with some of the sentiments in this book eg "Scotland is a vile country" - having lived here all my life; I feel that the author has failed to home in on some of the most truely crap outings available in Britain and includes some which I have experienced as mildly rubbish days out. Additionally the book would benefit from some colour photographs and a proper index.
E**!
I liked it but my mate wanted more detail.
Bought for a friend who wasn't keen - she would have liked more detail and a more objective description of many of the places. I actually quite liked it - flicked through and identified with some of the comments. Worth a try to see for yourself!

Crap days out
Really really good book - haven't we all sat in the car in the rain at some attraction with kids whining and partner complaining - this book makes you feel that we are not alone and that we should all rush to visiit the Pencil Museum or some pile of stones...

Lazy armchair journalism
For anybody who's ever not enjoyed a day out in the UK the premise of this book is almost irresistible.Sadly the premise is about all the authors have made any effort with. The content is written in the mock-resigned, vanilla cynical style of bad Sunday newspaper columns and internet forums. After a few entries, all written in the same tone with the same witless whining and obvious punchlines, the style is both tiresome and tiring. Most of the entries could have been written without ever visiting the places in the question. A quick browse of the attraction's web site, a google for reviews and that's all the content that's in each piece; there's no insight into why people visit or why the places are still running, just a continual barrage of smug criticism. A good book would attempt to explore why the UK has so many awful visitor attractions but this one is content merely to mock - badly. This is a lazy book, badly written, with little evidence of anything but the most cursory of research. It mostly fails as entertainment and fails utterly as a source of information.

...where I live
A great book to dip in and out of. Embarrassing to realise just how many crap places I've been to.
