Small, but effective
This item was supplied to me free of charge through Amazon’s Vine programme, however this in no way influences my review, which is intended to be both impartial and informative for potential purchasers. We have drying mats that we use as an overflow on the kitchen worktop when our sink drainer gets too full, but as they are made of cloth we don't like to leave them on the side for an extended period otherwise they would remain damp and start to smell. This is a great alternative to leave beside the sink so that you can place small items such as cups on there to drain after rinsing them under the tap - this is particularly helpful if you have a belfast sink without a draining board. It's also helpful as an absorbent mat to place under an item that might be subject to spills, and being non-slip is an advantage in this area also.Good value for money.

Perfect for my needs
I wanted a waterproof mat to sit under my coffee machine which sits on top of the pod drawer, so pleased to find a black one.It does the job very well, I don't need to worry about spillage seeping into the pod drawer any more.

Handy mat to protect your work surface
I'm currently using this on the worktop where the kettle lives, it's very handy as my kettle isn't the best pourer in the world and tends to dribble a bit as you fill the cups, this mat catches any drops and they instantly disappear into the absorbent material within the mat. I also give the teaspoon I use to stir the coffee/tea with a quick rinse under the tap and leave it to dry on this mat for future stirring duty. The mat arrived rolled up which is a much better solution than a previous one from another company that was folded up for transit (the surface of that one still hasn't lost its creases months later). The mat unrolled in perfect condition and lays flat on the bench straight away as the backing is relatively heavy. It probably isn't great to use purely as a draining mat as it isn't huge, but it's certainly big enough to drain a few cups, and it's ideal to sit under your coffee machine.Happy to recommend.

Not bad, but because it's slightly absorbant not really a coffee mat.
This is described as a coffee mat and initially I plaed it around my coffee machine, but coffee grounds soaked into the mat, meaning it didn't look so good. Although it protected the surface it didn't look so good. So I washed the mat, and now just use it for draining cups and mugs that have been washed (so clean water draining off them) For this it is perfect. Marked down a little due to the description that may give users a slightly different view of it's use.

Odd, but does what it says.
I was a bit surprised when I unboxed this.Over the years I've had a need for several wetsuits and this felt just like a piece of neoprene from a heavy wetsuit. Given that neoprene is water proof, I couldn't see how this was going to work as an absorbent drying mat.Out of curiosity I stuck it under a tap to see what would happen and what I saw looked very odd indeed. The water sort of pooled up and then, all of a sudden, disappeared into the mat. Not what I was expecting at all! We've now been using this for a while and it's honestly great! It's very surprising just how much water this will suck up and is very useful as an extender for our draining board. We use it for glasses and cups and the soft, spongey material means there's no chance of the crockery being chipped round the edges while any water draining away has somewhere to go and doesn't get trapped inside the glass or cup and ending up just sitting there.Over all, a very handy little mat.

Expensive for "just ok"
I have a large mat that I take things out of the dishwasher to stand on for those items that still have a bit of water on them. I thought this would be a good replacement but its too small. Actually its like the pictures suggest - the size of my placemats! It is textured on one side and more smooth on the other. IIt's smaller than my drainer basket so no good for that. I could cut it down to put a couple of mats on for when I make a cuppa but I use silicone mats for that which of course are heatproof whereas this one you need to take care not to put anything too hot on it.. What would be really useful would be if I could stand my dog's raised dog bowls on it but its too small for that too.I dont really have tons of water on my kitchen tops except when my husband is splashing it around and then its normally up the window or the back of the sink so really I am at a loss as to what to use it for.I'm unsure what you are supposed to do with it if it did soak up a lot of water - can you squeeze it out or do you just put it on top of your drainer to dry.Sadly unless they make a bigger one that goes under my dogs feeding station this product isnt for me - I think it is one of those things you will either love or hate but for me £8.99 is a lot of money for a mat that is approx 15.5" x 12" especially when it's not even cut that straight on one side!
