Can you put a mirror finish on the whole blade?

I have produced a mirror finish to a number of my knives, although there is a downside if you do this. Yes they do look wickedly sharp, although the slightest scratch becomes very obvious. If you do decide to do this, make sure the cutting edge is very blunt first. Only sharpen the cutting edge after the mirror finish is completed on both sides. (Carefully, as you do not want to damage the finish). I used progressively finer whetstone’s, Followed by fine valve grind paste followed by leather. The process takes vigorous polishing. In the interest of safety, only then should you sharpen your knives. Please note: You then become a slave to the maintenance of the finish, rather than the simple enjoyment of using your exceptionally sharp knives.

What brand is this stone is it a true 15000 grit

I have a selection of different stones where the identified grit size does not accurately reflect the actual Real grit size. My advice is to purchase for your own cooking requirements. A 15,000 grit stone may be overkill, unless you have good quality Japanese knives.
