Bladder infection (cystitis) Bladder infections are common in cats and dogs. The most common cause of bladder infections, mainly in dogs, is a bacterial infection. Bacteria enter the urethra and bladder and multiply there. In order to prevent a bladder infection from spreading to the kidneys, antibiotics are usually required. However, bladder infections have a tendency to return frequently. Repeated use of antibiotics is not recommended for various reasons, the mean reason being the risk of antibiotic resistance. Puur Cranberry Puur Cranberry is a food supplement that helps to maintain a healthy bladder and urinary tract. Cranberries are very sour berries with a red colour created by proanthocyanidins. Due to acidification, this creates an environment in which unwanted organisms cannot grow.
