Smokers and BBQ grills don't spit or splash hot oil, unless you're doing something wrong. But my new flat-top grill does spit a bit and there is NO way I wanted a splatter of hot oil on my patio concrete in the shape of my grill. I grabbed the mat, got it positioned and not feel much more confident about my patio. Its comfortable to stand on, but I have placed a couple concrete stepping stones on top of it. I did this for two reasons; 1) so I'm not standing in a grease splatter, and 2) to keep wind from lifting the corners and folding it up. We've already bought a 2nd one for a gift for our son who uses the same flat-top.

This mat is about the right size for my Weber grill and would probably work for most medium sized grill without a problem. The material looks easy to clean and the mat laid down flat on the deck. Note that wind can pick up the corners of the mat, so you may want to weigh those down if there is any substantial breeze expected.The mat is thin and easy to handle. How it will hold up over time remains to be seen, but my initial impressio is favorable. Pleased with this item so far.

No one likes dripping grease from their grill onto their deck or patio. To this end, this mat is a really nice idea.For starters, it is a very large mat. It provides plenty of room for a large grill with extra space for the cook to stand on it as well. This provides a nice protection to a surface against dropped food.The rubber-like material that the mat is made out of is thick and rugged, but still pliable. It provides a very easy-to-clean surface and it is thick enough to resist folding and wrinkling when rolling a grill around on it. It stays in place well, even lying flat on the edges right out of the box.

Lightweight and easy to lay down but also enjoy the fairly large size so it covers under the footprint of my grill. I got this more to try and protect the area around the grill from the occasional greasy spills, drips and splashes that are bound to happen and this is serving that purpose well.

For starters it's a very large mat, that will work for most larger BBQs... Like many others, I don't want dripping grease stains on my wood deck, nor do I want any burn marks if a small chunk of charcoal manages to find its way out of the grill... For years I have used a piece of ceramic board backer for tiles under my grill, but they honestly don't hold up well outdoors, especially through the season changes, so I got this to try out... As I said it's quite large, but it's also much thinner than I was expecting... I was imagining and hoping for a heavier mat that lays flatter and will resist wind, this mat won't do that, it's more like a heavy-duty plastic tarp... Only time will tell how well it holds up outdoors, and if the fact it's thinner than I expected causes issues or further concerns...

I’m glad I ordered this grill mat for my wooden deck. It’s very safety conscious and responsible to use these mats. A stray ember or hot charcoal could easily fall out of the grill and land on our old wooden deck and poof our house is up in flames. That’s not something I can bare to imagine. House fires are devastating to families. So I will do whatever I can to minimize that horrible situation from happening. I’m very happy to have this fireproof mat.

I have a very small balcony and a small Weber grill, and this mat fits fine. If I'm honest, it looks really cheap. It'll work for my purpose which is to protect my wood balcony (I'm in a condo), but it's just very shiny and cheap looking. It almost looks like plastic.

I put this under my Weber Genesis Grill and wish I ordered this sooner. Occasionally, I would get a few grease/food stains on my flagstone patio. Not anymore. This rubber mat catches any errant drips and is very easy to clean with some dish soap and water. I'm very pleased with this mat.
