Really works!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I came back a year later to do so because, this thing really works! It takes a while for the bees to find it but once there’s a bee in there other ones follow. No more saw dust all over the porch.

GREAT PRODUCT BUT INCOMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS
Someone recommended this product to help with a carpenter bee problem I had on my deck. They swore by it and indicated they had a few traps. I received the one and hung it for about 10 days with no results. The bees were flying around it but totally not interested. I started the process to return the item. A few days later I was leaving another customer's home and noticed the same bee trap and saw that it appeared to be full of bees. I inquired and they swore it worked and she told me how she set it up and "applied the bee trap lure". I'm like "bee trap lure??????????" The instructions that were with mine made NO MENTION of needing Carpenter Bee Lure to attract the bees. I did some online research and I found the product and found that an order from Amazon (at the time) was going to take about 3 weeks to arrive buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I also learned that a couple of dead carpenter bees are even better. My neighbor swatted 2 bees and we placed them in the trap. Fast forward five days (and one relaxing trip to Jamaica) I return to find the trap was almost half full of trapped bees!!!!!!!! My other neighbor will be ordering one in the next day or so. I will be giving him a couple of my dead bees to start his trap. I would highly recommend when emptying the trap to leave 2-3 bees in there. My research found that they are attracted to "bee pheromones" which is what the dead bees provided. These details were no where in the instructions I received. Needless to say, I have cancelled the return and am contemplating a small "dead bee" supply business in my neighborhood.......Price is 3 bees for 2 Snickerdoodles :-D

Sort of works as delivered
I've had carpenter bee's after a pergola for years now. This year I decided to take a multivector approach to solving the problem, by both spraying their holes once a week with Spectracide Carpenter Bee & Ground-Nesting Yellowjacket Killer Foaming Aerosol (which works amazingly well, I find dead ones near the holes every other day practically) and this product. My initial reaction was excitement in hopefully starting to eliminate the problem with this -- i had to make some modifications to what I bought to get it to work well. The skinny:1. The bees love the non-pressure treated wood. Big plus.2. Spot on guidance to hang it near where other holes exist.3. The jar provided is WAY to small. With some effort, they were able to fly up and get back out through the hole in the top of the jar. I watched it happen 2x. I realized it was because of 2 things:a. The hole in the provided jar was MUCH to big. You only need a 1/2” inch sized hole. Because the provided jar lid hole was bigger then the hole in the wood, they were able to fly out the top, latch onto the wood sides and climb back out.b. Carpenter bees only have so much vertical lift. They can make it out of the provided jar with some effort. HOWEVER, when I replaced the lid with a Classico sauce lid (drilled to only 1/2” inch) and a sauce size Classico glass jar, they couldn't fly all the way to the top. After I made my adjustments, I started racking up the number of carpenter bees in the jar. I got about 10 the first week, with no other problems of them getting out.

Great customer service
The shipping on the bee trap was fast! It arrived earlier than the projected ship date, and it was packaged nicely. The installation of the trap took 5 mins. Simply placed a hook next to a known location of the carpenter bees and hung the trap. I had the trap in place for two and a half weeks and unfortunately did not have any bees. However I had sprayed the area prior to hanging the trap with pesticide. I also noticed a decrease in carpenter bee activity around my property prior to hanging the trap. I do not feel the trap was defective. I think that had I placed trap when activity was high and prior to spraying it would have worked great! The craftsmanship was great and the product was exactly as described. I did request a refund and returned the item to the seller. Upon receiving my item the seller issued a complete refund. I would definitely work with this seller in the future.

It's works, full year review.
Spring 2021 I so stalled this on the side of the house on the table end of the house. It was about 10'-15' from where the bees like to hangout. At first they don't even bother, but as summer went on, they started to go in and stay. 2022 I installed it further away since it was an eye sore where it was. Installed on the eave/fascia under the gutters. Within the first month, there were about 8 carp bees in there. I cleaned it out and put more drops in and a month later, one carp been in the jar and no more flying around the house. Winter 2021, I removed and store in the garage. Could use some stain. Only time I took it down besides the Winter, was during windy storms. It works, better than sprays you buy at stores.
