Super effective! A little goes a long way! Great size for portability. Lights easily, starts a fire QUICK. Tricky to break, best to use a pocket knife to loosen the pieces.

These are a bit too compressed to burn hot and start a fire fast but they stay lit a long time.

We added a real wood burning fireplace to the inside of our home. Initially I was skeptical the fireplace would get used because it would be too hard to start a fire. This HGD Fire starter makes starting a fire easy. When its easy you will actually use the fire place and enjoy it. This does not have any unusual smell or smoke, it is a good value for the money and allows us to start many fires with one package. The HGD lights easy, we just break off a piece, set it in the fireplace, light it and watch the fire begin. Add coffee, a good book, a dog or cat and your quality of life goes up.

These starters work, but a very small when compared to others I have purchased. They also break up when separating them.
