Better than my countertop clear ice-maker
Okay, I was dubious, but this setup works as advertised. It's more complicated than filling up a countertop clear ice-maker and pushing start, but the results are much better as well. It's simple, if a bit fidgety, to get things going, and it takes about 20 hours to produce a set of cubes, but the cubes you get are large, perfectly square, really dense, and absolutely clear. As a result, there is less fizz loss from soft-drinks, and a much slower melt time, leaving either your soda or your adult beverage cold but less adulterated. This probably isn't a solution if you are trying to serve large (10+) parties, but if you need ice for 3-4 (or fewer) folks, this works quite well.I have already given my space-hogging counter top ice maker away. There is simply no comparison in the quality of the ice made.

It Does What It Says on the Tin
It does what it says on the tin. I use a mix of bottled, filtered and tap water (the heavy, bad stuff gets pushed into the bottom) to get some amazingly clear ice. I used to use the cooler in the freezer method, but this is far more convenient than carving and chopping ice.Personally, I think it is a bit pricey given what it is.... but the sheer convenience of it, the lack of a need to chop and shape my own ice, these things have made up for it.I do not post images typically, and I will not here, but just know that my whisky is very happy with the large cubes and the wife is happy with the smaller ones.Buy it if you can. It works as advertised. If you are still getting cloudy ice, do not use 100% filtered water. Cut it at least 50/50 with bottled or a mix like I have explained above. If you STILL get cloudy or unclear ice, turn your freezer down a notch and wait 24 hours before making ice again. You have to get the right timing or the freezer just traps bubble trails.

Quality tool
I have made both the 1.3” cubes and the 2” cubes. Both were highly successful. I own two of the ATK winner 4 cube maker with the gray hard shell and blue silicone. I have had zero problems so far following manufacturer recommendations.I just wanted something better suited to high volume output for a few home users. One of this device makes 2.5 times the output of ATK winner.I have a shallow well with water softener. This results in higher sediment water. As with all directional freezing tools I have the best success using boiled water. I have made two batches in the clearlyfrozen device. The boiled water was crystal clear. The tap water had fine streaky air bubbles.I advise waiting for boiled water to cool before adding to the tray. Hot water has caused my hard plastic tray to bow outward on the long edge slightly. The foam tray isn’t intended to hold pressure against the plastic tray.

Just incredible!
I chose this 1.3" and 2" combo set based on the ratings and the good words about the small business owner. Making clear ice was as simple as filling it to the desired height and setting it in my freezer for a little over 24 hours. Pulling out the tray and looking down into it, I could see straight through to the bottom of the tray! Even a portion of the ice underneath was clear, which is remarkable. I was prepared to use distilled water and have some trial and error, but tap water and one try was all it took to get perfectly clear 1.3" cubes! I was so excited that I forgot to take pictures until I did my 2" cube batch. See for yourself - perfection!I also appreciated that the owner sent a message with detailed instructions of what to do and what not to do. That was a nice touch that you don't see often. If you want clear ice and great customer service, look no further than here!
