Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit [DVD]

Arrived fast. As it was only rated a 12, I was not expecting much from this film. However, this is actually a great spy movie. Kept me glued the whole film and wanting more. Already lent it to friends who think the same. Well worth a night in and a takeaway.

enjoyable , now that we have had 3 people play Jack Ryan , and still no further forward who was the best. Still this film was good entertainment, story line interesting . Need to watch it a couple of times .

Fantastic

I really hoped this was going to be as good as some of the previous films made around Tom Clancy's character who has been played along the way by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck who I thought did a pretty stand-up job having to take over from Ford. I always felt that Ford who is notoriously difficult to work with, was a bit too up-himself even though 'Clear and Present Danger' was one of my favourites. I liked Affleck and was disappointed when he only made the one film playing Ryan. I liked Kenneth Branagh's character, Victor Cherevin and I think he did a very good job as Director. Production Designer Andrew Laws done a brilliant job as Production Designer. The script came from Adam Cozad and David Koepp and the idea of going back in time to show HOW Ryan became who he was and exactly what struggles he had. He was picked by an eagle-eyed William Harper of the CIA to watch Russian Financial movements from Wall Street. He discovers a plot to devalue the American currency until it is worth nothing. Plenty of fast action, lively driving and chases but for me at least I think that Chris Pine and Keira Knightly are both too lightweight in the leads.

Fast paced action that you would expect in a chris pine movie. If you have read any of the jack ryan books then you need to suspend your belief for the duration of the film because the time frame is out of kilter. But apart from that an enjoyable film.
