A New Favorite!
I purchased this book after reading The Bench because I so enjoyed the illustrations of Christian Robinson. I am so happy that I did. It is utterly charming and the words and illustrations go beautifully together. I love how sweet and meaningful this book is and can’t wait to read it to my three year old grandson now and for many years. This one has quickly earned a spot in the permanent library!

Inspiring message
Absolutely beautiful book with a heartwarming message. Before I read this book, I had never heard of Justin Roberts, but apparently he's quite famous, so probably doesn't need any help from me. Anyway, this is a wonderfully written book. Sometimes books that use rhyming text have some tough rhymes, or rhymes that don't quite work. Not so here. This book flows along seamlessly. It's a joy to read. The illustrations are wonderfully child-like and colorful. Kids will be instantly drawn to them. The message is inspiring and deeply felt. Perfect for parents or teachers to convey the message that anyone, at any time, can make a difference. Just about a perfect book for any child. Bravo.

Cute and meaningful story
Our little one is the smallest kid in her class by far, and this book is perfect for teaching her size doesn’t matter, but how she uses her voice matters. Beautiful illustrations and story. She loves it. “Look, it’s ME!”

Odd literary devices that are beyond a child's understanding
It was a cute book in terms of visuals but I bought this for my 4 year old and she said she liked it but when i asked her questions about the book she could not correctly answer them. I think this has to do a lot with the book being written with tons of metaphorical language. We sent the book back because of this

Wonderful book for all ages
Wonderful book for all ages. Simple and charming in concept and illustration but has a powerful message inspiring thought about the way people treat each other - and how each person has the power to make a difference in our world.Justin Roberts is one of those people that 'just gets it' - his music and his writing relate to children's feelings, fears and their sense of fun and artistry kind of like I think Mr Rogers did for earlier generations. Really special, if your kids are small, this is wonderful stuff to bring them up with - treats them as the complete people that they are now, not just when they grow up, and that is why his stuff is not just tolerable to adults but dear to our hearts and will be even once the kids are big.

Great book to teach students about using their voice
I read this to my class to encourage students to make a difference. It doesn't matter how small you are, you can make a difference by speaking up.

A Jim Trelease worthy Read-Aloud!!!
I just received this gem of a picture book in my mailbox, read it aloud to myself in my far too empty home (the kids went back to school today) and wound up with these wet things streaming down my face. Fantastic read-aloud with beautiful imagery & poetic cadence. I believe Justin Roberts would have made the great Jim Trelease mighty proud (do me a favor-Google Mr. Trelease-you will not regret it) . Well done Mr. Roberts. I will be sharing it with my childrens' teachers in the next few days. My kids all enjoyed the book and message (13, 11, & 7 yrs old). My middle son said, "No offense, but for a first book that's really good!" Definitely check out the song he wrote that inspired the book "Billy the Bully" and the rest of his hysterically inspired children's music.

... son and I are longtime fans of Justin Roberts' wonderful music, so of course we pre-ordered the book ...
My three-year-old son and I are longtime fans of Justin Roberts' wonderful music, so of course we pre-ordered the book months ago. It arrived yesterday and was a big hit as our bedtime book. The story, which is comprised of rhyming verse, is a simple telling of bullies, the bullied, and one small girl who observes it and is inspired to put an end to it. It is laid out simply enough that my son completely understood it (and the illustrations helped with that as well). Some of the metaphors were really lovely, enough to make me stop for a second mid-story to appreciate them. Highly recommended. And if you aren't familiar with his music, do yourself a favor and get some! This story is actually loosely based on an older song of his, "Billy The Bully".

there are other, better books to help your child
this book is not very good, the moral of the story is a bit obscured. I wouldn't buy this if you are looking for a story to help your child understand being kind to their classmates, and empathy etc. the Fill your Bucket book is much, much better

Muy bonito
Es un libro precioso con unas ilustraciones muy divertidas. El estilo del autor es inimitable... me recuerda a los diseños de los años 50, los colores y la historia... Lo recomiendo totalmente.
