Hawaii Five-O (2010): The Fourth Season

+++Warning, this contains spoilers from season three, but no major season four giveaways.+++Season four picks up immediately after the events that ended season three, with the ambush in Wo-Fat's cell. Of course, Steve makes it out and manages to arrest one of the gunmen. This eventually leads to a standoff with a group called NLM, who take hostages at the Palace to secure the release of the gunman. The story also ties directly to Kono and Adam's storyline in which they are hiding out in Japan. Obviously, the team is reunited and then the story-of-the-week procedural aspect starts to play out again. This season sees a couple of notable additions to the cast. First, Chi McBride (from Pushing Daises) joins the cast as Lou Grover, a former Chicago cop who joins the Hawaii SWAT team and clashes with Five-0. He is initially a recurring character but gets upped to a series regular partway through the season. Also, Jorge Garcia (from Lost) joins the cast as a local conspiracy theorist named Jerry, who acts as a consultant for the team. This season does not really have a huge cliffhanger the way seasons two and three do, but it is more of a storyline transition.Unfortunately, from season four onward, the season sets were only released on DVD despite the first three seasons having been released on Blu-Ray. For those who follow the physical media market well know, physical disc sales, (especially Blu-Ray sales) for TV series sets have always been notoriously bad, so around 2013-2014, all but the most popular shows or special effect heavy shows were no longer released on Blu-Ray and either just did not get a physical media release, or was just released on DVD. While the show still does look good, especially when played on a Blu-Ray or 4k player that will upscale the video, it is a step down from true HD. Fortunately, this was released at a time when they were still including a significant amount of extras on the disc sets. So, this one has audio commentary tracks on select episodes, several making-of and behind-the-scenes featurettes, a featurette on Chi McBride's character, deleted scenes, and a gag reel, among others.Overall, the show continues to be good. The large ensemble cast is juggled well, but clearly, Steve and Danny are the two main characters, and Alex O'Laughlin and Scott Caan have great chemistry. The guest cast this season is good as well with Henry Ian Cusick (from Lost), Nick Jonas, Terry O'Quinn, Robert Knepper (from Prison Break), Michael Madsen, and Melanie Griffith, among others making appearances. There are some good episodes that focus on Danny and Grace's relationship, as well as involving Lou's family. So, if you have been a fan of the show for the first few seasons, it is definitely worth watching.

If you like Hawaii five-o, season 4 was as good as the rest! Case was in great condition, unlike some that fall away from the binder.

Dear seller,I love this show and I have bought seasons 1-4 so far. And I plan on buying the rest as well. My only problem is on season 4 disc 4 the first episode won’t play. Is there anyway I can get a new one? I don’t want a whole new season just the 4th disc of the 4th season. If that is possible please respond and let me know! I’ve never had a problem until now so I fully believe this was just a small mistake when the discs were made.

I've followed this show from the start and think it's got the perfect mix of several "ingredients" that make it the best show on TV to me - and it's been getting even better in season 4 although the previous three seasons were fantastic, too.The cast (incl. famous guest-stars such as the legendary Carol Burnett) is very talented. The characters are super-likeable. There is a lot of humour, character-based storylines, as well as action and, of course, crime - all of these make this show extremely entertaining and worth watching. And, last but not least, the show is based in Hawaii so you often get to enjoy very beautiful scenery with beaches, surfers etc.Despite the many funny and enjoyable features of the show, however, its writers are also brave enough to tackle very serious, delicate subjects, as could be seen in episode 4.10 which dealt with the Pearl Harbor attack and the internment camps for Japanese Americans in Hawaii. This episode received a lot of well-deserved praise from fans and in the media.The Season 4 DVDs are definitely a must-buy for fans - and if you aren't a fan yet, you should get the previous DVDs, too, and catch up on what you missed!

EXCELLENT! Love the show up til the end of season 7. The cast change caused the show to jump the shark in season 8. This 5-0 is excellent. I am collecting all 10 seasons and plan to add the orginal to my collection as well. I beleave Jack Lord would have been proud of the new series.

I owned the three first seasons on blu-ray. Oh my God the landscapes just look so beautiful.Since there is only DVD format for the next season I bought it.The show is great, but if you watched the firsts season on blu-ray I ain't gonna lie to you, visually you are going to feel a little disappointed since there is a big difference.The show itself is great. I just wished CBS would hace invested on continue with the blu-ray format of this series.It would have make fans really happy.

Plays fine on my region 2 Panasonic UB820 Blu-ray player, image and sound quality is very good.The cover is in German; however, you have the option to play the discs in either German, English or Japanese with similar subtitles.Very pleased with my purchase.

AT LAST A BLU RAY RELEASE OF SEASON FOUR!I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS RELEASE , AS I HAVE THE PREVIOUS THREE SEASONS OF THIS GREAT ACTION SERIES , I CAN SAY THIS IS EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS THE OTHERS , SLIGHT DRAWBACK THAT THE SLEEVE NOTES ARE IN GERMAN BUT THE DISC'S THEMSELVES ARE IN ENGLISH AND ARE GREAT QUALITY. RECOMMENDED.

In the us they stopped with Season 3 on Blu Ray so I was thrilled to death to get this and more thrilled that is played in my US Blu ray player.
