A Brief History of Manga Hardcover – July 15, 2014

This book, at first, seemed like an excellent way to learn more about the history of Manga. It indeed is a good starting point, but anyone who has read at least a bit on the subject will find this book underwhelming. I also find it to be way too small. The pages are mostly 1-2 sentences with dates and a lot of unnecessary images.It wasn't too expensive, but I'm kind of disappointed by its lack of content.

Read for a college Anime/Manga class. Short and informative if you a are looking for a quick history of the topic.

A great read for anyone looking to learn more about manga's deep history in Japan. I used it as a reference for a research paper I did on manga last year. The book's year by year approach made it very easy to understand the developement from one style to another and one age to another.

Pretty good book to read. It tells how Anime change throughout the years.

This book has allowed me to get more interested in the Mange enterprise and to watch the relevant anime films or series based on these comics. A must read for all fans of manga.

I'm afraid my knowledge of Manga is pretty limited but once I've given it to the person for whom it's intended as a late Birthday present I'll discover if it's a good study on the subject. It was nicely produced given the modest price.

I bought this for my daughter, but had a quick flick through it beforehand, and it's an interesting read - I don't even like Manga!

Good value for money

It was a good read, wish there was more on modern manga and the effect it has had outside of Japan.
