Unpleasant feeling
This book has wonderful images and excellent content knowledge. HOWEVER, it left us with an unpleasant feeling. E was for emperors whose reigns did not last long, s was for skeletons on day of the dead, r was for a rain god like what the Aztecs worshiped and sacrificed humans to, and there was even a dead king dug up by archeologists under a temple.... even if you did further study like of the Aztec ball game, you found out that a losing team might be killed So all that stuff just left a bad feeling about Mexico. That is not what we want from cultural studies books for kids - we want kids to be fascinated by other cultures not repulsed by them. So I returned the book and bought Mexico ABCs instead. That book had less content, not as beautiful of pictures, did not have some of the things that I liked in this book like artists, HOWEVER it that other book gave an overall more positive feel for Mexico which better suits our young K-1st graders. I really wanted to like this book and maybe updating some letters to positive examples like E to enchiladas and teaching about Mexican cuisine would make this a much better book for kids.

Great series
I will definitely be buying more in this series. Cute, quick lines for the younger crowd and longer, more detailed information for older children too. Great book.

Bought for Classroom
I bought this book for my Spanish Dual-Immersion class and love it. I wish they had a Spanish version though.

Common Core essential
If you teach middle school English, this is a suggested book for a unit. Great picture book and covers multi-cultural issues.

I love this book, read it with my nephew who is 8
I read this book with my nephew who I'm trying to teach more about our Mexican Heritage. He is second generation born in the US and all the information in this book was accurate. I myself, Mexica, loved this book and want to purchase it for myself. I've done research on my ancestors and loved how they incorporated indigenous roots in explaining the Mexican culture. Absolutely well written, recommend it for others who have children and are trying to incorporate cultural learning.
