If you are a beginner I do not suggest this outlet as it runs a branded version of tuya firmware and it means if that goes under and their server goes down, you're hosed (similarly, if your internet goes down you lose control of the power switch). However, if you are moderately advanced, this outlet is fantastic once you flash a custom firmware to it. Flashing Tasmota using a separate raspberry pi and tuya-convert is easy enough and then you can easily setup MQTT for local control. I have this communicating to my HomeAssitant server via MQTT with automations in node-red and couldn't be happier.

USB ports already quit working after 3 months.

Didn't work, couldn't configure the wifi connection. I returned this product.

When a power outage happens and then the power comes back, the power strip will still stay permanently off until you manually turn it on again. Lovely for charging devices overnight and fishtanks.

Really cool stuff, but it needs wifi.

I purchased this back in Jan 2019, in late Nov of 2019, I noticed the USB ports were no longer powering up. My attempts to reset the device was unable to restore USB operation. Seeing that this unit is advertised with a 1 year warranty, I attempted several times to reach out to Wheswell support via their listed contact information and I even tried going through Amazon support to reach out to the seller. None of my methods has been able to get me contact with their support.It is a real shame because leading up to this event, the device was really useful.
