Oakdale Squirrel Resistant Peanut Bird Feeder

I have only had this up for a week and the squirrels have fitted their heads through the gaps but the worst thing is they have bitten through the wire already and the peanuts are falling out.. wire needs to be stronger

I’d give this zero stars if I could!!The mesh is extremely thin and it’s has taken less than 2 weeks for the local squirrels to chew through the metal.DON’T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!Not fit for purpose.

Overall a pretty good feeder, keeps the larger birds away most of the time (although some have worked out how to balance and mfind their way through!) However, the bottom of the feeder tube is like a plastic cup, so the birds can't get to the last few nuts. These have to be taken out and added to the top of the refill, otherwise they would eventually become mouldy and contaminate the whole thing. Not difficult, just a hassle which could be avoided with a bit of re-design of the base to have a dome instead of a dish-shape.

A fundamental flaw, or do squirrels now have a PHD? The squirrels hang upside down off the same branch as the feeder and poke their heads through the bottom opening of the cage. This is enough space for the squirrel to gnaw at the thinner sage holding the nuts to create an opening for the nuts to be accessed by the squirrel. On the plus side, it's entertaining to watch the squirrels work at getting their nuts.

The feeder is not squirrel resistant. The mesh that holds the peanuts is made from very thin wire and the squirrels have got their heads through the outer cage and destroyed the peanut mesh. They have also been able to flip the lid open. The item is not repairable and is now junk.
