The Secret of Secrets: The Secret of the Golden Flower

Mind = Blown. So good I had to tell you about it.
For me, OSHO is truly the master of masters. I read tons and tons of spiritual books. Ramana. Nisargadatta. Papaji. The Gita. Adyashanti. Mooji. Ram Dass. Anthony De Mello. GangaJi. And many more. I love all of them. But nobody tops OSHO. I have Over 200 of his books and transcripts of his talks. Yes. 200. I’ve probably read about 20 or 30 of them. And they’ve pretty much all blown my mind. His range, depth and volume of work are, as far as I’ve seen, unmatched. One of the meditations in The Book of Secrets gave me a world shattering experience. I hold that book near and dear to my heart. But this book. The golden flower. That’s the one that got me Off my a** to write my first review on any of his books. It’s blowing my mind over and over. It’s that good. The book is huge, but I find it perfectly balanced and immensely enjoyable to read. There are some places where you have to work a bit. Other places feel like he’s talking about very modern, familiar situations as if the book came out last year. And in those places the prose is easy breezy but the magical lessons dance off the page like lighting bolts to your brain. All in all it’s as fun to read as it is mind shattering. You almost feel like you’re right there in the room with him.Although I basically enjoyed it from the jump, it really started humming after a couple hundred pages.I’m only on page 282 (out of 688), but this book is so awesome I was compelled by the universe to stop and write this review. The book covers so many topics as OHSO answers questions from his sanyasins with breathtaking brilliance. Alternating between a chapter of Q&A and then a chapter of his truly masterful interpretation of the ancient text of the Tao, the Secret of the Golden Flower, he builds from esoteric principles to practical magic you can perform in your daily life.Hopefully this review reaches another seeking soul or two and helps them find this book to be the next right step on their journey. For me, it’s already deepened my understanding to unimaginable depths and helped me continue to let my flower bloom. While the Physical size of the book is a bit unwieldy when trying to ride the bike at the gym, I don’t want this ride to end.Enjoy.

The book is simply brilliant
Thank you Osho, for this book, and rest of your work. Priceless. This book is brilliant way of simplifying and delivering something so complex we called life.Clarity about human existence and many subjects explained here in such simple, profound and friendly way. I wish I came across this book at least thirty years ago. Book of such powerful and blunt truth untwisted, offers deeper understanding about one self, mind, ego, sexuality, man made world, common sense, love and joy, just to name a few. I can imagine, this read and understanding of it, could help one skip a few hard learned lessons we make along the way. This book I most highly recommend.

Great book. Took 8 days to read
This describes many religions and similarities. It didnt cancel out religion but It can create a different perspective of religious belief, the purpose of religion, and what a person should really be concerned about; after all, the universe and human beings are to complex to just be a biological accident.

The Genius of Osho
Reading Osho is reading poetry. It is a sheer joy. The way he interrelates and marries opposite forces in this dualistic universe is a work of art. At once a genius in the learned scholarly realm of information and a mystic of the deepest existential mysteries, Osho himself is a marriage of dualities which makes him so appealing to people of all ages and backgrounds. His work will continue to arouse and inspire people for centuries. So long as there is an interest in knowing, whether in the higher intellectual pursuits of the outside world, or the inner workings of the soul, Osho has a way of capturing one's attention and fascination. What he does from there is the work of a true Master. What he gives you with one hand, he takes away with the other. By and by listening to Osho, he leaves you utterly naked, standing on nothing but your own innermost emptiness - the true function of a buddha. 5 stars for Osho!

Outstanding Synthesis of Taoism, Zen, Yoga and Meditation
This book was recommended by my taiji teacher, who doesn't recommend very many books (4 in 10 years). I've been a student of taoism, zen, yoga, and meditation for over 20 years, and this is an excellent synthesis of the wisdom of these paths. I wish I had found it decades ago, if I could have understood it, I might not have taken so long to value the teachings as I do today.

Great examples and stories!
OSHO is a phenomenal teacher, he shares the ancient wisdom with experiences and real life examples which to me is the most essential component of any type of teaching. If you are a good teacher you should be able to explain complex concepts in simple layman terms and this book accomplishes that. 5 stars!

The Golden Flower blooms in you when you are utterly empty.
In this book Osho comments on selected excerpts from The Secret of the Golden Flower ( A Chinese Book of life) , which. is considered as one of the most esoteric treatises in the world. It is the Taoist teachings on life and existence. What we call the One-Thousand Petaled Lotus in India, they call the Golden Flower.in China. The Golden Flower is the light. ‘The Secret of the Golden Flower’ says: Light is the basic constituent of this whole existence. This whole existence is a light-flower. Without light, life is going to remain unintelligent and dark. “This light, this flower of light , these petals of light fill all the spaces outside and also inside.”Love is the movement of the light out of your being. Awareness is the reverse movement: the backward movement of the light to the source again, returning to the source. The Secret of the golden Flower is based on this backward movement of light energy. The book ‘The Secret of the Golden Flower’ says: energy going outwards becomes dual- yin and yang, darkness and light, life and death.,but if you bring it backwards it becomes again one - it loses duality, it becomes non-dual. It also says that everything is so deeply connected with everything else and nothing can exist apart. Your two eyes make all things dual and polar, and because of these two eyes you cannot see the oneness of existence.Tao believes that everything happens when it is needed. Tao means the way with no goal..So become a river and nothing is needed. All that is needed is to drop the idea that you are the doer, drop the idea that you have to attain to some goal, drop the idea that you have to reach somewhere, you be just a dry leaf in the wind - and then all is good, and then life is blissful. You will live eternally in purposelessness. That’s what The Secret of the golden flower says. When a Zen Master was asked, “How do you live? What is the secret of your constant joy?”He said, “Not much of a secret, a simple phenomenon: when I feel hungry I eat and when I feel tired I sleep.” This is living purposelessly:. This is living moment-to-moment - with no plan. When hungry one eats, when tired one sleeps. He takes things as they come. The most important things in the great Tao are the words: ‘action through non-action’.Lu-Tsu says,One has to learn action through non-action.But when no idea arises, the right ideas come..When no ideas arise then whatsoever you do is the right thing.By commenting on ‘The Secret of the Golden Flower’ ,Osho is not bringing a new truth in the world, but only expressing the truth in a different way.. There are 31 chapters in this book spreading over 672 pages , of which 16 chapters are set apart for Osho’s responses to questions from audience and disciples During the question answer session, Osho discusses various topics which include Joy, misery and bliss; Love, life and sannyas; Sex and rape; Aloneness and loneliness; Politics and politicians; Philosophy; Neurosis, Celebration etc. Osho also uses stories, parables and jokes to say something in an indirect way. Given below are some of Osho’s observations ::Contentment is natural to the woman, discontent is natural to the manWhen you have everything else, only then do you start looking for God.There are not good and bad habits: all habits are bad. Remain without habits, live without habits.God has been waiting at your door for long, knocking, but you don’t listen. My life is more precious than your temple, because it is the alive temple of God.Osho beautifully presents in this book the secret of the Golden Flower bloom in China.

Absolutely loved reading this book!
Amazing book by Osho! I have read many of his books and this one is as inspiring as all his other books. I often just open it on a random page and it always manages to convey a message that is for my highest good at that time. You could try reading other books first, if you are not familiar with Osho's work yet, but this book is definitely worth it!
