Updated review after second read through
I've read this book twice now because it's that good! The main character is kind of annoying, but overall it's such an interesting story. It's well written, has believable dialogue and drew me in through BOTH reads. I really liked the dynamic of the family, and how they interacted - so realistic it reminded me of my own family at times (dysfunctional, but loving). I also appreciated the intricacy of the magic and how the author explained it. I checked the author's page, but am not seeing any mention of a second book... Guess I'll keep stalking the page for updates lol

Engaging, Fun Read
Very enjoyable teen fiction book. The characters are interesting, engaging, and well-defined. The family relationship rings true. And while the book has its “magical” elements, the story is grounded in reality. A great first book from this author. I’d love to read a follow-up!

I'm still thinking about the characters and their stories.
This book kept me up way too late at night. The characters are so skillfully developed that I felt I knew them personally. Spot on dialogue, too. It all rang true. Loved the romantic tension, the family dynamic and of course the magic skillfully unfolded throughout. Hope to see more from Montville soon.

I really enjoyed this book by this new author
I really enjoyed this book by this new author. The main character Suzanne is a strong female character. While she sometimes makes questionable choices, she then found herself having to deal with the consequences of thise choices. I thought the dialogue was realistic as were the character interactions. I hope we get to hear more about Suzanne in future books.

Great book. The pacing kept me reading when I should really have been doing something else. I found the relationships interesting and the magic just right
