Empathetic story, beautifully illustrated
The illustrations are full of life and charm. I found I really empathised with the main character, and entered into her world/s. The pages are beautifully designed so that the story seems seemlessly evocative. All in all would highly recommend, especially for children experiencing loss, or helping them to understand another person who is doing so...

Lovely book
A lovely book. Well written for kids to understand and it has nice illustrations. I bought it for my son who struggles to fit in.

Great addition to your child's library
Lovely book not quite as touching as grandpa's island but in the same vein. I didn't actually get it the first time I read with my daughter but was surprised and saddened when I did. Definitely worth a few pennies especially for your child who is developing emotionally.

deals with death
This is a nice book but it deals with some serious themes that aren’t suitable for all children. I won’t be reading it to mine, so sadly it’s been a bit of a waste. Lovely book, but only really suitable if you need to talk to your child about processing loss. I bought it for my little boy to encourage him to talk about his feelings, but he’s 5 and he’d easily see the subtext that the mum in the story has died and, for him, it would scare and upset him. Not all children would react this way I suppose, but it’s something to be aware of when buying it.

A beautiful book
This is such a beautiful and moving book. It’s beautifully written and wonderfully illustrated. It has a powerful message about the importance of talking to people who love you about your feelings and having them really hear you. An important message for any child.
