Mentha spicata 'Moroccan' About the Mint 'family': Mint is a very commonly known herb of the Lamiaceae family. Mints are very aromatic herbs with a huge amount of uses as both a culinary herb and for its scent. They are usually perennial herbs with aromatic, slightly hairy or downy leaves with serrated edges which come in a range of colours depending on the variety. One of the best uses for Mint is to be planted by a path where you'll brush past it releasing the leaf's incredible scent. Mint flowers are usually small and compact, being attractive to bees and butterflies and range from white to purple or red. The leaves are used fresh or dried for many culinary purposes and have a fresh, crisp, aromatic flavour with a very characteristic cool aftertaste. Traditionally a compliment to lamb dishes, Mint is also used in teas, drinks, jellies, syrups, candies, ice creams and sauces. The are often used to flavour dishes as well as a garnish. Apart from it's use to flavour food it is also widely used in toothpaste and for its scent in perfumes and cosmetics. Most Mints will spread quite voraciously if given the chance so it can be best to keep Mints in a pot or container. About Moroccan Mint: This Mint is perhaps most famous for its use in tea. All over Morocco you can order a Mint tea where they’ll stuff a load of the leaves in a cup and just cover with boiling hot water. Simple but delicious and adding a bit of honey is nice too. The plant itself has a lovely upright, sturdy habit with deep green leaves. Growing to around 60cm in height. This Mint is particularly good in a pot where you don’t have to worry about it spreading. Although it’s best known for it’s use in tea, it doesn’t stop there, this is also a great Mint for use in curries, tagines and salads. It’s a very strong growing Mint with a fantastic flavour. The number one choice for teas. Grows to a height of around 60cm and spreads about the same.

Small, But Healthy Looking.
Very small plugs, and only 1cm thick, but they look quite healthy, and hopefully they'll grow vigorously now planted, to make up for the rather diminutive size. Mine were delivered in a thin plastic tray, clipped together into a letterbox friendly package.Out of interest I'll tell you that I also recently purchased the same plants, at the same price, from my local garden centre. The difference was, those are far larger, more mature plants, coming in a standard round pot. So rather better value I feel. On the other hand, I had to make a trip to buy them, so you pay your money and take your choice - convenience or bigger plants.I recommend you plant these in a pot, because mint has a habit of spreading rapidly and taking over ground. I will report back in the months to come, to tell you how they do._______UPDATEThree weeks after planting, my mint is still healthy and growing. I've notice the growth is very slow though, and my plugs are now dwarfed by the larger potted mint, which has trebled in size in the same period, and are even spreading and re-rooting themselves. I now think the locally purchased pots were a better purchase, as it's already giving me a useable crop. The plugs are still many weeks away from that.

Not convinced by the 'plug plant' approach
The plants were very spindly when they arrived three weeks ago and have remained so. They haven't filled out at all when potted on, instead new shoots are appearing from the roots. One plant looked less healthy than the others and has developed mildew.

Arrived quickly and well packed. Transferred to pots (mint spreads to far in open ground) and so far looking good.
