did not work as a dimmer. it only worked as an "on" and "off" switch. amazon sent a replacement, which also did not work as a dimmer.

Simple and right part to fix a broken online rotating switch. I do think the description could aid buyers by outlining that this will expect to have the single line snip on one side of the power cord (what is rather standard if you've seen/done this before). Most may think you just run both sides through and that is not exactly the case. The switch does give the solid 'click' operation sensation. And it does work well. Even with my comment above - installation of this switch was very simple. I was glad I got this product so easily.

The Aifeier inline rotary cord switches are exactly the same as the ones I have been buying at hardware stores for many years. There are two switches in the pack. They are rated for 3 amps at 125 volts AC. They are shipped disassembled, making them ready to use right out of the package. You cut about a quarter inch out of one side of a lamp cord, lay it in the side of the clam case that does not have the wheel, screw the two pieces together, and barbs pierce the cut wire to complete the installation. It's very simple, quick, and works pretty well. Oddly, the ad says, "The inline dimmer switch can easily control the power supply." It also says, "This inline dimmer switch is widely used..." These switches do not have a dimmer function. They only turn things on and off. I am very happy with these switches.

As a fan of restoring electronic devices, these are the sort of switches that are quite useful.These come as 2 switch assemblies. They are not assembled and that is just fine because, when placed into service I would need to disassemble them. So, they come ready to install. And installation is very easy. Just pick your location on the two wire flat cord. Now, cut one of the wires, pull back about 1/16 inch and slip the wire onto the switch. You will see one trough that is fully open and one that has a small dam separating the trough. On each side of this separated trough you will see a couple of pointed pieces of metal. Route the cut wire so that each side of the cut will be pierced by these pointed metal. Now just pop the second plastic cover over the switch and secure. You are ready to go. It really is that easy.Performance is good as long as you stay below 3 amps. I am using these of vintage fans that run between .6 and 1.1 amps. These will also work very well on a lamp. There is a rotating disk that you roll over and it will click into the on position. Roll it again and you now have it in the off position.These work very well and I am pleased with them and their performance.
