I bought this to make empanada discs. My son loving refers to them as homemade hot pockets. He thinks anything homemade is super special. The press makes things so much easier. I place parchment paper on top and the bottom of the press, pull off a golf ball size of dough and let his teenaged arms close and smash. The discs come out even and mostly circular. Using the press is quicker and much more consistent than rolling and cutting. It also means all the dough is handled once and yields a better product.

I absolutely love this press! I was able to take make my tortillas and then chips I’m so beyond happy with it. It’s easy to use and easy to clean it’s made of cast iron so very sturdy!

It's super heavy! Since it's an iron press, it's also a bit hard to clean (in my opinion), but other than that it works as it should.

Handle broke after 2 months. Don't buy also if you do dry fast because it rust easy.

I got this product for making Indian Roti / Chapati. Though I haven't been able to make Phulka's, which I didn't expect, I am generally very happy with it.You can get your Roti's pretty thing by:/ Making softer dough/ Pressing slowly and hard/ Rotating the Roti 3-4 times and pressing again.I find that it does provide an overall time and effort savings, highly recommend.

This works just like it should.Is cast iron heavy? Is it only the size for street tacos? Is the weakest point going to be the bolt on the hinge? All yes answers.You are pressing tortillas, sopes, gorditas, not rocks. Use steady pressure and you get better tortillas than trying to smash it down with brute force.Keep it clean, use wax paper, store it in its box and occasionally wipe it down with a little oil and it will last.
