TabCat really works. Accurate out to 400+ feet. Easy to use. No subscriptions or apps. 10 Stars.
TabCat really really works. 10 Stars. Very small, easy to set up, easy to use, very accurate. This is the ultimate cat pager/tracker. No subscription charges-ever. Does not rely on satellites or cell phones or apps. I tested TabCat in an open field with grass more than 1 foot tall. At a distance of 400 feet, the TabCat remote control was near the limit of it's range which is incredible for very low level weak RF signals. Slowly point the TabCat remote control towards the horizon and slowly rotate in a full circle. Follow the strongest signal reading on the bargraph and fastest beeping tones. Very handy. The TabCat remote control correctly showed me which direction to start walking +/-45 degrees from 400 feet away. At 300 feet, the signal was much stronger and more accurate +/-30 degrees. At 200 feet, the signal was about half strength, even more accurate +/-15 degrees. At 100 feet, accuracy improved to better than 10 degrees. The signal strength was very strong and the beeps were getting faster and higher pitched. At 50 feet and closer, TabCat was extremely accurate. All I had to do to use TabCat is walk, point the remote control slowly in several directions, listen and watch for the strongest signal, then move towards the strongest signal. TabCat can pair with up to FOUR separate collar trackers allowing you to find four different pets easily. Some will say that 400 feet is not enough range, however, this is plenty for 12 acres out in the country. It would take me less than 30 minutes to accurate seek and correctly find my four cats. Nevermind the marketing and sales folks which sometimes exaggerate products. (Ever heard of the 600 mile compact indoor "digital" UHF TV antenna? Ha!) For TabCat, 500 feet range would be under non-realistic perfect ideal conditions, not real world conditions. This real world performance is double what I thought was ever possible given the small size and low power constraints. If you need to cover the whole county region, get a GPS cell phone $ubscription plan pet tracker. Otherwise, TabCat does the job perfectly and practically. The batteries are standard batteries that last for several months. Batteries are easy to change out. The instructions say TabCat is water resistant. To be sure, use the included flexible rubber covers to help keep water out of the collar tracker. Be sure to purchase rubber covers for each of your collar trackers. I ordered TabCat with 4 collar trackers and 4 rubber covers. Definitely splash resistant. To fully waterproof the collar tracker be creative and use a very small sealed balloon or tape. The TabCat remote control is slightly larger than a thick credit card and is also splash resistant. A small ziplock bag will make it waterproof. I like the feature where the remote control will turn itself off after inactivity so that it does not run the remote control CR2032 batteries down. This greatly extends battery life. This product is designed to work for many years. I could not ask for a better product than TabCat. 10 Stars.

Great cat finder. Provides peace of mind and saves a lot of searching time.
I have multiple cats and live on a 5 acre property that is mostly forested land. I keep the cats inside at night but let them out to roam around sometimes. Trying to gather them all up was a real hassle, especially when you had no idea which direction to even start looking. And calling them just doesn't work most of the time. I started using this Tabcat cat finder a little over a year ago and it has been great. I've only had to change the batteries once in that time, though I don't need to track them very often so if you used it every day I'm sure the batteries would drain faster. The range is somewhat limited, especially in areas like mine where the signal could be blocked by tall grass or trees (both standing and fallen). But if they are within about 200 to 300 feet I usually get a signal. Sometimes it's a very faint signal but having that faint signal is so much better than blindly searching a larger property because it gives you a direction to start walking. Without it you have no idea which direction to go. As you get closer the signal will get stronger. Trying to figure out the exact direction to go can be tricky as it doesn't always point you directly at the cat but will get you within about 30 or 40 degrees until you get closer. As you go, you just stop every 40 feet or so and turn slowly with the remote pointed away from you and watch/listen for the strongest signal and that will give you a better idea of the exact direction. I've found my cats many many times with this which has saved me hours of searching and calling time not to mention all the stress it's saved of not knowing where your cats are and if they're safe. It's not perfect but it's saved me so much in time and stress that it's still worth a 5 star review to me. I wish the range was a little further as many times I'll switch it to a certain cat and I get no signal at all which in itself tells me that the cat is pretty far away from the house but I have no direction so I usually start spiraling outwards until I get a faint signal. Durability seems to be fairly good. I've never had a remote or tracker go bad under normal use. Even after carrying the remote in my pocket with other heavy things all day it still works fine. I've only lost one tracker and that is because I didn't notice that one of my cats came back without a collar one day and the collar with the tracker was lost outside in the rain for about a week before I noticed it was missing (it was a black collar on a black cat!) and by then it must have died from the elements as I never could get a signal for it so I had to replace it. Though this was mainly human error and I can't blame it on the tracker itself. The other thing is the beeping the tracker makes when you are actively searching is just slightly too quiet. I know you don't want it loud or it would freak out the cat but if they just made it slightly louder it would make it much easier to find it when you are close. I've had a cat lying under some branches on the ground within 10 feet of me and I couldn't hear the collar beeping even after muting the remote. And if there is a breeze that can also drown out the sound since it's so faint. It also makes it tough to find a missing collar if it falls off the cat which I've had to do a few times (my cats have the collars that will unbuckle under too much stress to protect the cats from choking if it gets caught on something). But other than these 2 things I haven't really had any problems with it. I plan on buying more for my other cats. I recommend testing it on all cats each time before you let them out to make sure the battery isn't dead and that it's working. It will give you a beeping when the battery is getting low but this can be hard to hear or notice so testing it each day is the best way to go to be sure. Don't rely on the low battery warning.

I have had excellent success with this product on my two cats. I have always been able to find them, even when they are hiding in a stone out building. Easy to use and set up. I have not had any issues with the battery going dead yet, and I have used it many times. Not too big for on their collars either. I recommend this for sure. **I have not tried to use it for extended meters. I have used it for up to 50 meters.

Fabulous tracker. Very pleased with the ease of use and how accurate it is. The tab that attaches to my cats collar is not too big either & weighs very little.
