Lisle 28100 Torque Angle Meter, 1/2 Inch Drive, Universal Fit, Skin-Pack

On newer engines, head bolts are not torqued to a specific foot-pound figure but rather to a certain number of degrees of twist after initial light torquing to snug the bolts. There are several versions of tools to allow you to measure the number of degrees you are turning the bolt to get to the final figure but this one is, by far, the easiest to use. It works great. I painted a yellow line at zero degrees and then yellow lines at the specified degrees for each bolt length I was tightening on my heads. In the matter of maybe ten minutes, I had all the bolts torqued. Just remember to put some oil under the head of the bolts and some anti-sieze on the threads. And DON'T reuse the old bolts!

Much sturdier and easier to set than the cheap ones I've looked at. The pointer is closer to the number scale, and therefore easier to read accurately if you can't look straight down on the scale. The dial can glare if the light shining on it is too bright, and the numbers are a little smaller than some, because they label the degrees more often. To my mind, these limitations are outweighed by its strong points, and I'm very happy with it.

Heads up, this is a nice tool but mine would bot turn when I received it, maybe was just in package too long or maybe they are all like this. I had to fiddle with it and turn it a couple evenings while I watched t.v. and use wd40. Make sure the guage turns freely before you hit those head bolts or you won't get a reading. Bear in mind you may have limited swing with a wrench handle on some bolts. For those trying to use handle as a guide and just turn it 90, if you have to ratchet your tool you will be lost. That's the real strength with these. I had to ratchet a couple in back and then guage saves your place so you don't do more than 90.

Bought this gauge after a couple others proved to be inaccurate and defective. I've used this gauge on several different projects so far with no issues. Even used it to torque head bolts on a 496 Chevy. Works flawlessly.

It works but the numbers are hard to see and over time I think these numbers will fade away

Was replacing the head gaskets for my boat engine and needed a Torgue Angle Meter. Was going to cheap out and purchase several of the cheaper ones available for about half the price but so glad I did not. I was warned by a mechanic that I seek advise from that the cheaper ones can break or slip causing you to loose the torque setting for that bolt, since the bolts are one time use that could be a problem especially if you over torque it and it snaps in the head. In comparison to the cheaper alternatives this one is of more professional quality. Metal construction, a clip that can be placed anywhere to set the angle to zero and its made in the USA which is a huge plus in my book. This was my first time ever using a torque angle meter, I was able to set the torque angle very easily with no problems.

Economical way to read the number of degrees of the turning of the cylinder head bolts on a gmc Terrain. They were required to be turned 155 degrees and this tool is needed for accuracy. Just take your time to make sure it is clipped and is in a position so it can be read while turning the head bolt. seems to be well made.

The Lisle 28100 torque angle meter is very convenient to use and to operate than the OTC4554 and KD3336 torque angle meters. The flexible clamp keeps the angle meter from rotating and it attaches easily to any fix object in any position such as cylinder heads, intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds or engine block. I used the torque angle meter for loosening and tightening bolts. Most of the time, I used the torque angle meter for loosening bolts in 45 to 60 degrees increments. Torque angle meter is sometimes called "angle wrench" from several service repair manual. It is describe as a tool for tightening bolts as shown in the Lisle 28100 packaging material. But, it is not describe as a tool for loosening bolts. The torque angle meter was used after tightening the bolts to the specified torque. First, the bolt's specified or recommended torque was tightened in sequence by using a "torque wrench" (such as foot-pounds). And finally, the bolt was tightened by using the angle meter (such as degrees). I used the torque angle meter to loosen bolts that were tightened in sequence by a torque wrench such as cylinder head bolts, intake/exhaust manifold bolts, bearing cap bolts, rocker shafts bolts, etc. Please remember that torque wrench is only use for tightening bolts (incremental torque measurements) but not for loosening bolts. The distorting, warping or cracking of cylinder heads, intake, manifolds, exhaust manifolds, bearing caps and rocker shafts could result from removing the bolts in incorrect order and incorrect sequence. For example, cylinder head bolts should be loosened gradually in several steps as describe in some repair manual. But the repair manual does not mention the tools in loosening the cylinder head bolts. Therefore, I used torque angle meter to avoid distorted or cracked parts such as head cylinder heads, manifolds, etc. In order words, I used torque angle meter for loosening bolts that were tightened in sequence and in order; and for tightening bolts where a torque angle meter requirement is called for.

This one works perfect and very well made not like those cheap crappy plastic ones with the metal rod that always mess up angles requiring new bolts so save time money and frustration and buy this tool well worth the money and works

Does it's job.

It worked very well for me. I just put a price of masking tape on we’re to stop turning. But take off the tape as soon as your done using the tool because if on to long it rips off the chrome indicator scale. It would be great if there was a adjustable stopper set on the gauge
