Finally... After many purchases from other brands (from cheap to serious prices) that delivered poor results in testing with a standard Video8 input from a Sony EV-C3E VCR; now finally found an AV converter that delivers a spotless image for conversion on USB/PC. I still have to go through many settings, but I have every confidence that it is a superior device. The supplied software also looks trustworthy.Thanks Clearclick.

This HDMI converter is a little more expensive than many alternatives, but that comes with a bit of extra functionality that I really like, so value-wise I think its great. I set it up on what is essentially a remote surveillance camera feed. I love the ability to switch the resolution and the aspect ratio. Just having that option really is worth the added price, to me. The picture is just as good as it used to be on the old monitor, which had the RCA connections. Those connections are getting very hard to find on new monitors and TV's, though, which leads to the need for this converter.One minor issue I had with it was that the higher quality, thicker composite video cable I'm using would not fit into the cutouts on the case. There was no problem with the connectors themselves, but they are recessed a bit, and it was just the openings in the plastic case that were a bit too small. I solved this by removing the case and filing out the holes to allow me to connect my cable, then reassembling the converter. Now my cable fits and everything works great. I will note that the case is painted black, so after filing the hole, that area was white. I just used a marker to touch it up.

Just a warning, I would not rely on the built in capture card. It is not very good, would highly recommend a HDMI 1080p 60hz capture card to not have frame drops. The HDMI output is very smooth, looks great. You plug it in and it works.

Had to transfer some VHS tapes for my mom easy to use. Plug and play, turned a 30 yrs old video into a digital video.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:In a youtube presentation it was indicated as one of the best for beginners and would not have the problem on the top of the converted viceos, a greenish band as the cheaper makes made in China. However I have this greenish problem and this Item is made in China whilst I bought it from USA, thinking it was American made. The item was not worth the price I paid for and this company has made large profitis since the quality is the same as a €20 one made in China.

I am very please with the results of the SoundBeast AV2HDMI 2.0 capture device compared to the standard video capture device. A side by side screenshot of videos playing from both says it all. I am glad I looked into an upscaler.
