Delivers what it claims
Presented in uncomplicated fashion, easy to comprehend and practical for everyday usage, this is a must for everyone who wish to cook keeping in mind the ayurvedic insights. The books's subtitle "Cooking at Home with Ayurvedic insights" is so appropriate. It makes the tenets of Ayurveda easy to follow in your home with ingredients to be found in most Indian kitchens. Exotic ingredients are certainly not a prerequisite to great cooking! It is how we use the simple ingredients available in our kitchen wisely, that is imporant in day to day cooking. Sukham Ayu just tells us that! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an insight into the vegetarian cooking and Ayurvedic principles to imbibe in their day to day life.

Please review your book with a good vaidya before your write one
Sorry to say. But, the author may not be practicing classical ayurved. Reason being some of the combinations would actually aggregate the 3 doshas and not the converse :(.One example being 'Milky Vegetable Soup' which uses salt with Milk is not recommended by 'brihat trayi'?

Nourishing Yummy in the Tummy
In an age where all recipes are available on the internet, the cookbooks that are most valuable are the ones that go beyond teaching us how to cook. They tell a story of a time or a place, inspire us to think about our food, and change the way we eat! Pritya's books do just that. Their first book Cooking at Home with Pedatha (Best Vegetarian Book in the World - Gourmand Winner)  recreated the ambience of India in my childhood days. Pedatha reminded me of my grandmom who used to make hearty meals with lots of flavor and texture. With every dollop of ghee went a whopping amount of love.Their second book Sukham Ayu makes you think about the food itself. Each ingredient has a purpose, and is carefully balanced to complement the other ingredients in a way that brings out the best in them. All the layers of flavor add up to more than the sum of their parts. The wisdom of what these ingredients do for us from an ayurvedic perspective makes a fascinating read. It's a great introduction to ayurveda, but to me, the book was more about treating my taste buds and seeing how flavors are married together than learning about their nutritional benefits (although their's undeniable value to this!). The recipes are contemporary, and ideal for when you have guests over. There are tons of soups, snacks, chutneys and veggie dishes, and some desserts. Both books have simple, easy-to-follow recipes using common ingredients (there are also suggestions on variations and ingredient substitutions). You should be able to get all the spices used in these recipes in regular food stores (surely Indian food stores). There's a visual glossary of the ingredients to help you identify the ones you may not be familiar with. They need no advance preparation or special equipment, and are quick to make! The design of the book is colorful and elegant, with lots of pictures to feast on! It makes you want to serve the food in the little silver, brass/copper and clay dishware you see in the book.

Anupa (reader, cook, parent, teacher)
A well-written book with insights into ayurvedic food combinations and very simple, authentic, healthful vegetarian recipes. As an avid cook and sometime cooking instructor, I plan to make most of the recipes in this book. With the information in the recipes, I think fairly novice Indian cooks can many of these foods. While some recipes require ingredients used specifically in Indian cooking, it is now easy enough in the US and other countries to access and Indian grocers and get these ingredients. The authors, Jigyasa and Pratibha, have stunning images and colors in their second cookbook. Their first cookbook, "Cooking at Home with Pedatha" is one I already own as well.

Very unprofessional practice by AMAZON
The book is really nice. But the service of Amazon is horrible. For every delivery your boys keep expecting tips. I'm working for a public sector utility and I look into stationary, liaison and protocol. Most of the orders requests are placed by higher officials who pay only the billed amount. So, everytime your delivery boys keep running away with margin change, I need to bear the loss. Either you pay them enough that they don't bite into consumer's wallets or have a policy where you direct us directly to pay for your boys, expressing your inability to provide service.
