My first day trying pickle ball I was hooked and wanted to immediately get my own paddle. A friend who has played for a few years told me about the lightweight paddles and recommended getting one under 8 ounces, the lighter the better. This one fits the bill. It's about 7.8 ounces. You can find some weighing less, but costing a lot more. The wooden paddles provided for your use at the local park or community center are just too heavy. You can buy wooden a lot cheaper than the Onix, but a lightweight paddle makes a huge difference in your ability to learn and enjoy the game.
