I used the PPI FE Mechanical Review Manual to prepare for the exam and passed on my first attempt. The book is high-quality with sturdy binding, thick pages, and clear printing. It covers all major topics like statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, and controls. The practice problems with step-by-step solutions were invaluable for understanding concepts and building confidence. Pros: thorough coverage, durable book, clear explanations, lots of practice problems. Cons: heavy, and some sections could use more depth, but overall it prepared me very well. This is a trusted, comprehensive, and durable study guide — definitely worth it if you’re aiming to pass the FE Mechanical exam the first time.

Helped pass FE

Let me start by saying this book is an amazing resource. I've only just begun to use it to prep for the FE, but it is already clear that it is well written and information dense. Additionally, being backed by such a respectable academic power house like the Kaplan company, I have little doubts about the quality of information provided. Unfortunately, I cannot give the product 5 stars due to Amazon's poor shipping and handling, an issue that seems to be becoming increasingly, and disappointingly, prevalent. I would hope, when paying $150 for a book and even more in subscription costs, that when I order literature for my professional library it would come in pristine condition. This was not the case. Poor packaging with little protection and careless handling lead to this item, as well as the other text I ordered, arriving with quite a bit of "character" already. Dents and creases all around the covers of both books. Additionally, there was a large info sticker stuck to the front of this tome that obscured the title, which proved quite the challenge to remove, and left plenty of gooey residue and scraps behind. If you want an excellent resource, this book is for you. But if you want it to arrive in pristine condition, consider ordering through other avenues.

I've owned a few FE mechanical prep books, but honestly, I wish I would have just gotten this one. The biggest reason for me and what I think is the biggest barrier for students getting this book is price. You also have to consider, is this going to be the right investment. It's a risk. I feel your hesitation. So, if I could put your mind at ease, this is the one. This book isn't a one off study prep book that never gets its material checked. This is revision 9 and Kaplan has clearly made a commitment to providing the best, and highest quality FE book on the market. This is really important to me because my other study prep books had poor explanations and incorrect answers. I love how this book covers so much material and provides an almost endless amount of practice questions. This isn't just a book for a fresh college graduate, but it should also be provided to a student just getting started. This manual will allow you to prepare along the way. Challenge your education through each class with the material in this book. Allow this book to ensure you're not missing the basics because they will compound in more advanced classes. This isn't the first time I've seen this book, and I've seen it on one of my professor's desk. He took pride in the amount of his students that took and passed the FE exam. Overall, if you are serious about your education and passed the FE and eventually the PE exams, this is the book. I can't recommend this book enough.

The book has clear printing and readable text. However, around 20 pages have issues, including missing pages and double printing. Despite the clear print, this was a disappointing quality problem.

Great quality book that covers a wide variety of subjects for the FE exam and gives a lot of tips and solutions. Overall, it's a big book that helps prepares you for the FE exam.
