Good fun but I prefer the non-upgraded version
This flying orb toy comes boxed with instructions, charging cable and remote. The ball has a very simple design. It's basically a rotor on a stick which is mounted inside a spherical plastic cage. The cage does a good job of stopping you getting your fingers caught in the mechanism, so the orb can be used safely with no fear of injury. The orb charges up via a micro-USB cable, which is included. The USB port is on the top together with the on/off button. As it's positioned under the cage, it's a little tricky reaching the port and pushing the cable in but so far I've been managing OK without causing any damage. Similarly, reaching the on/off button can require poking my fingers through the cage and manually rotating the central section of the orb. When the orb is switched on you have to swing it around to get the motor started. It is a good design as it means the orb doesn't fly off before you're ready. Once it's spinning though, it wants to fly! If you angle the top towards another person and gently throw it out, it flies right at them and can be caught and thrown back the same way. You can also point the top more towards yourself and throw it out to have it come back at you, boomerang style. I can manage that quite well. What I can't manage is to have the ball just hover in place above my hand, but in theory it is possible. The orb is upgraded from previous versions that stopped spinning on a significant impact. This one will bounce around endlessly. The instructions on stopping it once caught don't seem to work, I can only use the remote. Thankfully it can survive hitting anything really and won't break any windows as it's very light. I'm using the orb indoors as it does have a habit of getting away from me so while it would be great in the park, I'm sure that in the garden it would be going over the fence or into the road in no time.Throwing the orb back and forth is an awful lot of fun and the lighting effects look pretty cool too. Battery performance is reasonably good, I can get about 10 minutes of solid playtime in before the orb needs recharging. Charging is fairly quick but takes about twice as long so you need a few orbs in order to keep one in play continuously. For that reason I own quite a few, I would have given this one four stars if it was easier to stop but I'm still happy to have it in my collection.

The charger burnt out immediately
The ball arrived, we used it for a few minutes before it ran out of charge which was expected. Great little ball. Switching off is a bit awkward. Just needed to shake really hard.Unfortunately the charging cable burnt out the second we put it on charge and burnt my daughter’s thumb.

A limited amount of fun
I bought this out of curiosity, having seen ads on social media showcasing it.Personally, initially I found it quite manic, almost wild, in its operation - but once you get a handle on it, it's quite manageable, if a little limited. You can get a fair amount of play with it (no more than 10 minutes at a time) - however, only when it's holding its full charge up to about 5/6 minutes will it perform well... as the battery reduces there's a definite drop in lift.I was fine with pointing it in a direction to fly away, or pointing it slightly toward myself to use as a boomerang - but this ability reduces fairly quickly as the battery died. No matter what I did though, I couldn't get it to hover above my hand... but more sit in the cup of my hand lifted ever so slightly - which doesn't seem to me to be the intended purpose of that function.
