The straps are weak and comes off easily
I was in the middle of the climb and the strap on the foot came off. It was disappointing to use

Spikes.
They hurt your feet because theybare too narrow. Modified them so they would stay on. Spikes are too small and dangerous when climbing.

Tree Climbing Spikes Set These will get the job done, they work decently well. The bar that your foot sits on could be a little wider, and maybe have some rubber coating on it for comfort, but it is functional. The one thing holding these up from being great is the fact that the spikes are a little too short. They are functional, but do not instill the highest confidence when this product is used to climb trees/poles. I would advise always using a safety harness and anchor system when using these.

I picked up this tree climbing spike set to tackle some long-overdue yard work—mostly trimming branches and grabbing fruit that’s always just out of reach. I’m not a professional arborist by any means, so I wanted something beginner-friendly but still sturdy. These delivered. Right out of the box, they felt solid. The widened pedals were a game-changer—my feet didn’t feel like they were being pinched in a vice while I was up there. The spikes gripped the tree bark way better than I expected, and I actually felt stable the entire time I was climbing, which was a relief since I was fully expecting some wobble. Strapping them on was pretty intuitive, and the canvas padding made it comfortable enough that I wasn’t rushing to get back down. They even included gloves, which came in handy when dealing with rough bark and sticky sap. One small heads-up: the straps might not last forever. I haven’t had any problems yet, but I can already tell I’ll probably upgrade those at some point just for added peace of mind. That said, for someone doing yard work and occasional climbing—not scaling redwoods—these worked great. Honestly, I felt kind of like a superhero pruning branches that had been annoying me for years. If you’ve got trees to manage and want something dependable without spending a fortune, this is a solid place to start. Just don’t forget your safety gear.
