you need to also buy an 18650 flat top battery and charger
Been playing with this today . You need to BUY an 18650 battery with flat top (not the button type) and a way to charge it. You'll need to get it before you assemble your robot as you need to insert it fully charged during the assembly. Next You need either a computer ,tablet or phone to go and get the instructions. I was annoyed by this because they are PDF and could EASILY have been included as a printed manual. Anyway we got down to assembling. It is fiddly with very small nuts to position. You get the rest of the machine,in pieces to make of course. The body is acrylic. Parts all look good quality and everything is made to fit without problem. Remember it has 8 legs so the assembley of each will be the same and gets a bit tedious. On assembley, there is software (downloaded with the manual). I also downloaded it seperately incase there was any difference. As yet we havent finished the build. It will take several days . Not that it is long but the particpant's interest Wained and we'll wait till he wants to get on with it again. This is something a sciency or craftsy 10 year old would enjoy. My 12 y old helper likes dismantling stuff but lacks attention so one must be on hand to give a bit of encouragement. We found the video you can watch via a link was very small and while we could understand ok, it was not really more helpful than the PDF. I think the manufacturer should include the battery and charger with the kit as it isnt inexpensive and there really should be a printed tutorial to save all the backwards and forwards when youve got it all laid out to build. Photos are 1. part assembled robot and all the parts included. 2. section of the PDF showing how the instructions are laid out (ignore keyboard thats just a bit of our computer)

My son loves the science "crate" kits out there but is getting to be on the older side so I grabbed this thinking it would be a nice step up. It is! The set is recommended or ages 8-16 but could easily be used by even older people who are just interested. The kit includes a programming guide. It comes with extensive learning resources, including 16 story-based tutorials, coding files, and an assembly guide. And, it has wi-fi so can be controlled with a smartphone. It does not have batteries and does need them. Definitely assembly required - but that's kind of the point - and there is a lot of help to make sure you're successful. Aside from the instructions there is a video on you tube.

Il montaggio è abbastanza complesso però molto carino . Peccato la batteria non è compresa nel kit , dovrebbe essere inclusa .

It's a great STEM toy/educational device that marries building & coding lessons in one. I'd recommend it for kids aged 8 and up but I can see younger children completing this even with minimal help from their parents. The building aspect is really easy and can be done in a couple of hours, if that when accompanied by an adult. The coding aspect is broken down well and the GUI makes it a bit easier. I think it's essential that the adult has an understanding or learns enough of it so as to conceptualize it to the child in a more visual manner. It's easy peasy from there. One last thing to note, this "starter kit" doesn't come with a pair of 18650 batteries required to power the device. The user needn't order from the manufacturer so FYI there especially since it's available everywhere including this very marketplace. All in all, I gave it 4 stars here but it's more like 4.5 stars to my eyes.

This kit uses cheap parts that look like they came out of a 3d printer. The instructions are non-existent. I spent over an hour trying to find the instructions and then it was a battle to find the code. It also requires special additions to your Arduino IDE to make it work. I managed to get through all of that only to find that it doesn't work! I calibrated the unit and then it won't stand, walk anything. I am fairly computer savvy and have assembled several Arduino projects (I even designed a few) and I still found this to be way harder than it should be. I have reached out to customer service to see if they can help me get this working but, I completely expect to be returning this. I feel like this is a neat idea that was very poorly executed
